Yeah, this recent weather has been tough for big hairy pooches!

We've been trying to get them to the beach as much as possible as they all like swimming and the rescue one is obsessed by it
Cheers,

Mike.

May’s broke. Won’t put her front paw on the ground never mind bear any weight, no idea what’s happened either. Off to vets tomorrow, hopefully nothing too serious

Buster has been with us for over a year. It's my first dog and I'd never have guessed before I got him how much of an impact he'd have on my life - I can't remember what life was like before him :)

A little update on ours. He had a couple of infections in his lungs earlier this year causing a massive horrible cough. After many different tablets it eventually got better but was still there..... now its back. I have to wonder sometimes when a Vet asks you how much you have on your insurance they are really trying to max it out and have no real interest in the dog other than it being a means to an end. Harsh yes but they are there to make money.

Anyway he is going back tomorrow for more pills for his limping (they all do that sir) and cough which are 200 quid a month combined.

We ended up cancelling our insurance as it was more to insure the dog than all the cars combined

I argued that as we had his balls popped off he is far less likely to get cancer (Common Rottweiler issue) but they said they didn’t take that into account

Petplan for life is apparently the best. He's on that.

7k this year alone.

Same problem people have in America, a course of antibiotics there costs $1000 in a good part of town because they just stick it on the insurance. A course of antibiotics here costs the taxpayer less than £2.
It takes balls to be a vet, spending a whole career pretending to love animals when you just view them as a cash cows, and finally putting them down when it’s no longer economically viable. They must be more soulless than the cunts who work for HMRC. Even having insurance doesn’t help since some of them are so motivated to earn more they like to add unnecessary work.
How about not having a sig at all?

Didn’t go to vets in the end, for all reasons already stated above. After a good look over her, not being able to find any sign of damage or breaks only thing left was a corn on her foot- really common in greyhounds and cause them some problems. Gave her a jar of peanut butter to keep her occupied, hulled it out myself, was much deeper than it looked. A weeks worth of aspirin tablets and some veruca plasters on the affected area overnight and she’s on the mend. Still limping a bit but much better- vets would have been X-ray, blood tests, medication, corn removed in theatre under anaesthetic, bandaged up and multiple return visits and my pocket/insurance a grand lighter

Edit to add pic of her not looking best pleased when we took the peanut butter away afterwards

Mik has a surprisingly high success rate with this line at the local wine bars in Scottishlandtown.

That’s a standard Scottish chat up line. I’ve had great success with it.
