4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Hamish is a proper wee delight!
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
We went to see the new member of the troop last Friday. Was a lovely 4 hour drive up but sadly a 7 hour drive back .
Pick him up in 3 weeks, he is the one showing you his butt.
I know, great Photographer
We managed to get a boy from the same line we got Flash from, Westlodge, there are lots of bad breeders about and we loved his fitness and energy. We had a choice of 2, 1 instantly relaxed on the wife (she got to choose this time) and then after I had a cuddle he got down and did a huge wee. Already getting bonus points.
We have a call to another breeder tonight and we can hopefully get another male, both dogs come from Westlodge dogs so it’s all the same line and the same type of Rottweiler we want. So fingers crossed we can get another by September time.
Also looks like we are getting ducks soon too. So now the animals food bill will be more than the humans .
I can’t wait!!!
Dave!

(apart from the return trip). Duck and puppy playtime should be fun
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
I’m fully expecting to remove a duck from the mouth of a puppy from time to time but I think the puppy will be the one getting attacked

I don’t claim to be an expert, but we are nearly 8 months into duck ownership, so if you want any info - PM me @V8Granite.
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Start up a yt channel - call it something like Puppy & Flappy , Puppy & Quacky, or Doggp & Ducko - and you'll get plenty of views; could soften the food bill
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
6.5 weeks old, another 2.5 weeks till collection.
It will be needed as we need someone to herd these….

Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Our younger dog was running full pelt across a field a couple of weeks back and fell when the ground dropped away unexpectedly. She walked home but later that night was too sore to put any weight on one of her rear legs.
Took a week to get a diagnosis - ruptured cruciate, so the knee joint wasn’t held tightly together and the bones moving around were clearly causing acute pain.
Specialist surgery needed so we were given anti-inflammatories and painkillers that messed her tummy up, and referred to a surgeon - who quoted us 9 weeks before they could take her. Can’t wait that long. By this point she’d stopped eating Tried two others further away and the best we could get was 7weeks. Still untenable.
And then we got a phone call. Cancellation - know it’s short notice but could you bring her in tomorrow? YES!
Surgery went well, but we’re now into 6 weeks of forced crate-bound rest. I know from our late dug how hard this gets in the last couple of weeks when they feel pretty much normal and get depressed.
But needs must.
Surgeon reckoned the fall wasn’t the sole cause - mused that it must have been weakened for some time and the tumble just pushed it over the edge.
She is already putting some weight in the leg when we take her out to the toilet so very positive so far.

Awwwww look at the poor pupper with the cone of shame. When you’ve got greyhound types this is a constant fear, they’re very prone to leg injuries. Get well soon pups!
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Yeah I wish someone had invented an alternative to the cone by now - hateful things.
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Hope the dog stays sane and recovers well!!!
The t-shirt over the back end works really well when the wound no longer itches but till then a cone seems the only thing. Horrible things and worse when they are mobile as they wreck your house
Running in no time.

Never had a dog before, just put a deposit down on this dog, red lab:
Seems like a big commitment, I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Chris - that’s awesome - you’ll love it
Yes it’s a big commitment, but the rewards are huge and Labs are fabulous dugs.
Get insurance.

Couldn’t stand it yesterday - called up 5 stores who confirmed they didn’t have the right size in stock. Tried one further out who had one Large in stock, which they agreed to put aside for me
Got there and checked the sizing on the pack - excellent.
Drove back home and went to put it on…, despite Large on the pack it contained a (muthafucnkin) Small.
Forced to order an Amazon job that should arrive tomorrow.

Petplan Lifetime Ultimate is the insurance we're planning on going for, recommended by our friend who works for a vet (who also has a red lab!)
