Succession series 3 finale was pretty damn fine. Just hope we don't have to wait too long for series 4.
Cheers,

Mike.

Witcher Season 2

3 Episodes in, and so far, so good. Significantly better production values, no more time jumps, plenty of monsters.

It's been filming near me at Fountains Abbey and Plumpton rocks. I may start watching it just for that.

I powered through it last night and today and really rather enjoyed it.

I started watching S2 of the Witcher. I watched the whole recap and realised I didn't actually remember any of it, so I ditched it.

I've started on The Expanse again. Didn't catch on first time, but this time I'm more engaged.

Hawkeye

Quite fun, reasonably polished in the typical Marvel way, and pretty well self contained so if you like the Marvel stuff but don't have time to watch everything, you aren't gonna miss out on any universe changing revelations - but it does tie a couple of seemingly loose story knots off towards the end from the larger MCU.

Six trick arrows out of ten.

Lots of six out of tens lately from me, but generally good sixes.

Book of Boba Fett

Ok, only one episode in but it's got that same solid, deliberate pace and feel as Mandalorian does, and the opening episode was quite good.

I think this will be quite alright.

The Firestick remote has vanished so can’t watch it, think the St Bernard has eaten it.

Yip, very similar feeling to Mandalorian which isn't a surprise given who wrote and directed that first episode. Very promising start.
Cheers,

Mike.

Just finished watching Devs as I ease myself back into work.

Really great show, I'm a huge fan of Alex Garland's directing style and this is completely in his wheelhouse. The story is not really surprising if you watch/read a lot of sci-fi but it's so well made that it doesn't matter.
An absolute unit

Wheel of Time

No idea about the books etc. First episode feels a bit rushed and makes it feel like it's going to be all a bit Young Adult, which it is, but not egregiously so.

Technically fine (actually some really good CGI work and compositing - seem to be a few shots where they transition from CGI enhanced drone shot to a crane shot, for eg) and the story starts to relax a bit towards the end.

I feel like there could have been more about the main characters abilities - a lot of it is left very vague, but again, in guessing season 2 stuff.

As noted elsewhere (zedleg I think) if you like your 'grounded fantasy' type stuff and can put up with some very mild YA tropes, then it's worth a look.

Six fantasy words that are curiously close to modern English words out of ten.

I'm looking what they're doing with this - taking some light and deep cuts into the lore and giving it some flesh.

Fun episode this week, too.

Did anyone on here catch Anne? Fuck me, one of the toughest T.V programmes I've ever watched. Such a tragic, wretched story. Unforgivable corruption, but brilliantly told and acted. Maxine Peake will win every award going for this.
Cheers.
