Never had a skeleton watch before. It's very bling and the markings on the face are a few degrees out from where they should be, but I quite like it as it's fully mechanical and you get to see the little wheel spinning back and forth (there's probably a proper name for that part). The rather cheesy 'Winner' text at the bottom is not as clear as shown in the picture here, or maybe it's just my eyes have trouble focusing on it!
That’s a no from me

That’s a lovely gift. Way too ostentatious to wear every day, which is as it should be for a romantic present.

It seems to be traditional that when I go to the States, I buy a Seiko from Macy's. And I did so again in New York last week:

It's a Seiko SBDC063, known by some as the Mini Marine Master and with the alternative number SPB079 for other markets. I don't think it's officially available in the UK but there are a few places here to buy it. It's a homage to a 1968 Seiko diver and it's utterly gorgeous; definitely a cut above the SARBs in its finishing. My only complaint is the lack of a signed crown.

The bezel looks like ceramic but I think is heavily lacquered steel. Mine's actually the blue version (the black bezel comes on a bracelet, which was nice enough but is about £175 to buy on its own). The blue bezel plays with the light in a much nicer way so it was an easy choice.

The case shape means it doesn't feel its 44mm diameter; I'm a fan of sub-40mm watches but I haven't worn anything else since I got this.

Just ordered the bracelet for it (£151+£9 delivery - if I'm unlucky, plus 20% VAT). In the course of finding the bracelet, I discovered there is another version which is rather lovely, known as the Deep Blue Hole; SPB083 with black bezel and blue sunburst dial. You can buy it over here for a grand, and you can probably find a 10% off code: https://www.jurawatches.co.uk/collectio ... s-spb083j1

I bought the bracelet as well - I really like it on the Z20 silicon and have struggled to find an appropriate coloured NATO or leather strap, so bracelet or silicon will be his thus is worn. It’s still my favourite watch. Has a bit of a Planet Ocean feel.
