I know Tag Heuer have a bit of a negative image amongst watch fans, but I’ve not owned one myself so have no direct experience. However, I noticed something pretty ugly on a Watchfinder video:

Go to about 7:30 in the video and look at the reflection of the second hand in the other hands. The finish is horrible. It should have been dipped in the red paint; instead it’s been sprayed on one side only and there’s overspray and splatter visible on the reverse. Lazy and shit.

I wonder if Watchfinder realised that their macro shots would show this up?

I wouldn't be too harsh on Tag. Rolex finishing on their GMTs aren't great either. Screencap from Watchfinder again on a £30k white gold GMT:

Only Grand Seiko give you close to perfect finishing at the level of Patek and Lange for Rolex money. BTW, don't bother selling your watch to Watchfinder. Since the beginning of this year, their valuations have been taking to mickey to the point you might as well sell it yourself on Ebay or Chrono24.

Picked up a new Sub today. No idea how WoS managed to open for collection only while 99.9% of retail shops in Glasgow city centre are closed. I didn't even put my name down for one but couldn't turn it down when they are currently getting flipped for £10k+. Bonkers to think back in 2017 you could put down a deposit for one and wait only a few months. Now, they don't even give you the plastic 50p bezel protector  .

It's my 50th in March, bet it's a snowball in hell's chance I'd be able to get one?

If I'm honest, it's going to be tough to get one if you've not bought from the AD before. However, go to your local AD and tell them you want one for a big birthday, you never know.

It's maybe worth a punt isn't it?

Just be honest with them, they can sense if you're a flipper of not. Most of the time it depends on the salesperson you're dealing with.

The main Rolex salesperson at my local AD changed earlier in the year which is a shame as he was a good bloke, could have a good laugh and chat with him and no stupid games. His replacement however seems more interested in posting on Facebook the latest gifts her customers/potential customers have showered on her.

It'll be interesting to see how much they charge when compared to Ebay and Chrono24. Ebay (US anyway) has recently upped their game in terms of guaranteeing watches are authentic so buyers don't get screwed over, and more protection for sellers too. The service will filter through to EU soon.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

One of the regulars on the Chris Ward forum is selling a nearly-new (and spotless) Seiko Monster SRPE09 (the “Save the Ocean” edition) for £280. Cheapest I can see a new one on-line is £400. I wasn’t a huge fan of the aggressive lines of the original Monster, but is has calmed now - this is chunky but nice. Lovely face.

One of these

I think you still need 50 posts on the forum before you can see the sales/wants section, so you possibly won't be able to view this link here :?: but the seller’s text and some of his images below.

I guess you’ll need to come through me if you are interested. (Or join the CW forum and get posting). I’m not brokering a deal, but happy to connect you

END OF PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

2. Monster SRPE09 'Save the Ocean'
