I've bought many watches on Chrono24 before, most from abroad, some watches into five figures (not bragging) and never had any issues. Make sure you check on the seller feedback as usual. Plus, Chrono24 protects the buyer, money held in their escrow and released when you receive the watch.
Cheers.

How does that work with import duty / taxes etc ? I've tried googling but can't find a straight answer, just see a lot of people warning not to be tempted by lower prices in other countries without considering those additional fees.

Chrono24 worked very smoothly when I used it but that was from a UK dealer.

@Pete_ I always ask international sellers if they would declare the value of the watch a lot lower. For example, my recent Grand Seiko the seller declared it £200 which meant I saved a huge chunk on import charges, the real value is £5k. As a buyer, it doesn't matter if anything happens to the watch, it's on the seller, and Chrono24 protects you. I wouldn't do it if I was the seller though.

Good trick! I'm surprised the sellers agree to do it though!

A lot of the big, experienced sellers have business insurance, which covers/insures their watches for shipping.

It's a niche interest - if you don't understand, you probably don't want to know.

I've Googled it too, and whilst I couldn't see any connection to watches, I will be checking the results out again later in more detail.

I mean, I can think of a meaning for strap whore but it has nothing to do with watches

Thanks to the wonders of the Royal Mail the package that @Jobbo sent to be delivered before 1pm (guaranteed!) was delivered to the wrong delivery office, but don't worry! They've immediately rerouted it. Unfortunately the tracking didn't say to where or when it'll arrive, nor is the bot chat any help.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Oh FFS - at least it was special delivery, not just signed for. I always say that most RM services simply give you proof of non-delivery 😄
