What in seven shades of fuck is that sea tractor all about!? Just, why?

Still I bet the driver had a nice pint of mead to warm up after that...

The island is cut off by the tide twice a day - it’s to get to it when the tide is in.

I’ve not just been on it, my ex-stepson got to drive it 😎 (just steering, but so nice of the driver to let him).

Great filming by the pilot from the obviously hovering Canberra.

PS I once saw a Canberra crash on take off.

That's the most delightfully old-school, utterly mental, yet entirely practical solution for that problem. You can imagine when it was built the idea of continuously maintaining a one-off tractor heavily fucked by sea salt all the time just wouldn't be an issue... 'Alf and Gerard down the shop there can sort that, it'll be fine.' 8-)

Found some details of the earlier versions (the one above is the third):

And... When Sea Tractors Go Wrong! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-53317613

There's also a sea tractor at South Sands beach in Salcombe: https://www.southsandsferry.co.uk/about/sea-tractor/ - I've been on both those versions.

Once you've started looking... :D
I had in my mind there was another one somewhere, I don't know if Salcombe was what I was thinking of though :? I've probably grouped everything together, like dinny's Brighton post and bathing huts etc. This and V8's Glos. post don't make me want to travel, honest
