Last rain we had was a light shower exactly two weeks ago today.

No significant rain for a month now. Most of the grass has gone brown.

Much as I like warm and sunny weather, especially now the hay fever has started to ease off, I wouldn't mind a couple of days of decent rain.

At least I haven't had to cut the grass for a while 😂
Cheers, Harry

 @ weather. You wouldn't have expected that when booking the wedding.
Fortunately that was in Birmingham and the wedding was in Cheltenham. Birmingham had a ridiculous amount of rain in a short time on 27 May:

Jobbo wrote: Thu Jun 28, 2018 9:01 am I didn't notice this thread because it was posted on my wedding day. We were bloody lucky; it rained pretty hard just before and during the ceremony then thundered as we came out but remained dry after that.

Some guests didn't make it; apparently the M5 was shut though they had problems closer to home:

We only needed an umbrella on the way into the ceremony and were sat outside until 1am.

Paging JL :P

I'd've hated to've been driving somewhere I didn't know in that. It's too easy to get caught out by dips in the road you don't know.

You might have gathered from the news that it's been a bit warm here, and dry for a very long time now.

Stank of smoke over here in Altrincham this evening.

Weirdly, the last time I remember a moors fire of this scale was back in '06, when we had a long hot summer, and I'd just handed my notice in at the last place I worked... That was really odd though as there were strong easterly winds, and I remember leaving work one day in central manchester and it was like a scene from 28 Days Later - smoke just drifting through the city centre streets. Very eerie.

The closest we get to that is 100% humidity at night.

I'm amazed at this weather. After buying the mx5 I expected the wettest summer on record, the roof has barely been up.

A lovely sunrise in progress, currently 14°/feels like 13° with 100% humidity. Can see the moon as well.
Next door's cat invited itself in when I popped outside and promptly ran back out when I came in.
According to the Met Office today should be easier than yesterday, 3-4° cooler, less pollution, less pollen, lower uv (that should carry on through the week). They say 7 uv is rare in the UK, we had 8 for at least three days last week, and quite often over the preceding weeks as well. There's no way I'd cope in a hot country
Now's the time to get out for a drive :(
