He’ll be able to get a perfectly useable car for his budget, but he’ll have to use his head and look around for it. Seemingly this is a task most people seem “too much work”.
This, although he's not really averse to private sale etc.

ilmonstro - I've already suggested he tell his wife to sell a kidney if she wants a fucking seven seater so much, apparently that is a tempting thought but probably wouldn't be well received by SWMBO.

This whole discussion has reminded me of the frizzy haired mother (by which I mean mother, not MF - actually scrap that) that lives on my street and drives the most wanked out people carrier I've ever seen. It has no hub caps, one of the steel wheel rims is so dented I'm surprised it holds air, the rubbing strips on the side have been torn off, every single panel is dented and scratched and one wingmirror is entirely held on with duct tape.

I presume you're mate would be interested, yeah? I'll ask her if she want to sell as I'd sure as fuck like to never see it again.

ETA: its a Peugeot something-0-something. Whatever the largest blobbiest thing is they sell.

Friends don't let friends drive Peugots, you sick fuck.

Also, he's got a 100 mile catchment area. Getting 'outside of bradford and leeds by more than 20 miles' probably removes 90% of utterly humped clocked taxis.

That said, if you like clocked taxis, Bradford is the place to look!

A v70 with rear facing seats would probably do this job and be more reliable, and nicer to drive.

I'm sure everyone wants to know, but this has been pur-chased.

Decent MOT history, 1.5 petrol, timing chain, pretty clean, no unpleasant noises or reactions on test drive, A-class traded in against it so he's shot of that.

Behold, the search is over, and to be fair, for £790 that strikes me as not too bad for a cheap shed!

Yup, that’s exactly the sort of car one would also consider if looking at something similar to a Sharan.
How about not having a sig at all?

Any better suggestions for seven seat sheds for those who are in the lower income brackets?
Oh - perhaps a Suzuki Swif.....ah you beat me to it.

Unsurprisingly the spec changed pretty much daily based on what was available in the 'under £1000 within 50 miles' search on Autotrader ;)

I didn’t know the Swift was that cheap. Will have to recommend my stepson gets one to replace his Corsa.

Looks like a good buy for £790 but your colleague is a bit of a throbber.

Oh, I was aware that the requirements had changed, but I didn't bore you with all the exciting updates ;-)

We went to look at a Focus that looked good from afar, but it was far from good looking - a veritable explosision of sticky, gummy oil and a new turbo - but not new turbo oil feed pipes, etc...so yeah, fun times.

(also, I won't pretend I don't like sniffing around old nails, always fun to see what you can get for your money at the low end)

I don't get it.

I mean, I get the star wars reference. I just don't get how it applies.

But it's a Sunday night and I can't be arsed thinking, so there's also that.

It's incredibly simple. He wanted a seven seater for all the kids. He has now bought a small hatchback. Where are the kids going to sit?

Oh fucks sake, yeah.

They can stick getting moved around in the Zafira with the fucked head gasket. I suspect after one too many 'I don't like that colour' moments from the missus, he just decided to replace his own car with something a bit newer, and she can sort herself out
