Great breakfast spots in Gloucestershire

Post by V8Granite »

Hi all,

In the summer holidays we are off to Pembrokeshire and want to stop off for a good breakfast on the way.

So any recommendations for north Gloucestershire or between Peterborough and Pembroke area ?

I tend not to go out for breakfast often, but my stepson is deputy manager at the Toby Carvery on the A40 on the north side of Gloucester if you fancy really stuffing your faces at breakfast: https://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/restauran ... reakfast#/

There's a van in a layby just off J10 of the M5 which gets good reviews: https://restaurantguru.com/Junction-10- ... Cheltenham

Yes it’s a services but it’s great. We did essentially the same journey (Cambridge to Pembrokeshire) and would stop off there.

Have to agree, probably the best services in the UK.

^ It's the same people behind it as Tebay iirc. +1 it being a pleasant place to stop, and get some food for later on. Not too far out of the way if you were going to go cross country rather than M4 either.

Stopped there 6 weeks ago and my wife is still talking about the sausage roll. We ended up with a loaf and a few bits from the farm shop as well !

Easily the best services I've been to.

It’s got a lovely farm shop / deli type thing. Mrs Newt even got some post cards last time we were there. Yes, same people as Tebay and same ethos.

It is a nice service area. Not worth getting on the motorway for if you weren’t already heading past it.

JIC

The only place I've been for brunch that was above average in Gloucestershire is Caffe Corretto in Gloucester Docks.

They sell very nice looking T-bone steaks in Gloucester Services (northbound, if that makes any difference - I assume both sides are the same) but they were £26 each. Haven't yet bought one to bbq. Food might be good but prices are typical motorway service area level.

We’ve done Gloucester services before and thought it overpriced and nothing special.

All other suggestions taken onboard and will pick one. Much appreciated Evo folk.
