What's the strangest thing you have a spare of?

Post by Jimmy Choo »

Given that @jobbo had a spare oven in his garage, what's the strangest thing you have a spare of?

For me, it's either the spare ironing board (which is odd as I don't iron anything) or the spare vacuum cleaner.

I effectively have a spare set of pans, a "moving in" present from a house move many years ago, but the pans I have are still serviceable so I've never bothered upgrading

Spare fridge in the outhouse too, bought for a rental space I had but not worth enough to bother selling/using when I moved into the current place.

Plug in the spare fridge in the garage and use it as a drinks fridge??? That’s what I’ve done.

We have three fridges (two standard size, one double height freestanding) but none are technically spare since they’re all in the house.

Spare rocker cover for a Ford Puma, or the plastic headlight covers for the same car. Sold the car over 8 years ago.

Oh jeez, I have a garage full of stuff !

But closest to the original question, relating to Jobbo & his oven, was back when we'd first moved to this house. Gavster asked if I had a spare washing machine. I did, but that wasn't the weird thing. The strangely embarrassing thing was that I didn't know where it was. I couldn't find it

It eventually came to light in the dining room, under / behind some other furniture. My house is such a mess that I was able to lose something as big as a washing machine.

Spare airbag for a van I no longer own. Thinking of firing it off at a race meeting for comedy value at some point.

A spare flare for a Toyota again no longer owned.

There's no room left, the three bikes and workshop take all the room 😂

(Also, the garage is integral with the house, so the main fridge/freezer is just inside anyway)

I left it in the outhouse, fully intending it to be beer fridge, but I don't drink much these days, and don't get many visitors that drink either!

A red household bayonet fitting filament lightbulb. I don't know where it came from or what purpose it serves but I've kept it circa 20 years

We had some red bulbs from when our dad had a darkroom for photography. I think we got rid of them when my brother moved out of Thurso, some twenty years after we moved out of the house with the darkroom

I've got 3 wrist watches, but I don't think of two being spares, more a small collection. We've also got three different Dyson vacuums.
