No F1 thread?
Re: No F1 thread?
I thought the idea of new regs was to reduce the influence of aero anyway as that is what is humping the close racing? Switch to lower profile tyres and simpler wings etc.
Drawing winners out of a hat would have given us more excitement than many of the last ten seasons to be fair with a few notable exceptions where there was properly close racing and multiple winners.
If it was as unsustainable as we keep being told it is only wise to look at how to keep it going. I guess reduced aero research is better than race ballast?
And one thing we always see, when one avenue shuts (programmable gearboxes, ground effect, launch control, ABS, etc) another opens and we see someone come up with a double diffuser or an F duct so it might add rather than take away innovation.
I know Ted gets all moist over extra winglets on front wings but personally I am not all that fussed and although I don't want F2 style with identical cars, I would love to see the drivers' skills counting for more of he result.

Not f1 but formula e. Daniel abt has been found out for entering a pro e-sport driver as himself in their virtual racing, he’s now been suspended (read sacked) from team Audi in real life
Audi wrote:Daniel Abt did not drive his car in qualifying and the race at the fifth event of the Race at Home Challenge on May 23 himself, but let a professional sim racer do so. He directly apologized for this on the following day and accepted the disqualification.
Integrity, transparency and consistent compliance with applicable rules are top priorities for Audi - this applies to all activities the brand is involved in without exception. For this reason, Audi Sport has decided to suspend Daniel Abt with immediate effect.

Re: No F1 thread?
I wonder if Abt (the business) will stay involved in the Formula E team?
Left over crest; tightens.
Re: No F1 thread?
So that’s like 3 racing drivers now that have been sacked from actual racing due to esports

Well that would be an interesting development. Would Mercedes really gamble that big?

So Merc won’t have a works team, Racing Point will become Aston Martin with Merc engines, run by Toto.
Where will Ham end up?

I think SV to Merc, Wolff and Ham to RP as a driver for one or two years at most.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 8:55 pm So Merc won’t have a works team, Racing Point will become Aston Martin with Merc engines, run by Toto.

Yeah I’m wondering if Rokit didn’t deliver and Williams are so on the line with their finances that it was the final straw?
