And at the end, Liberty deciding who they want to win and engineering the scenario…

I haven’t watched F1 for a while but was tempted to by the narrative behind this season.

But if that’s the way things are these days I won’t bother
In what way were Liberty involved? Have a crack at Masi if you feel the need but don't talk pish.

to create and maintain the product.

I'm not saying that Liberty were in the Directors room, pulling the strings but it's not beyond the realms of believability to think that Formula 1 and therefore, by extension Masi have "non functional" corporate objectives to realise around "Viewer Enjoyment"

The US Grand Prix where only 6 cars finished nearly ended F1 in the states and to finish "the most exciting season in years" with a whimper under safety would not have stood. Make it exciting at all costs etc.

I was waiting for Bottas to park his car into the turn 14 barriers.

Kind of irrelevant to the latest farce but Liberty did desperately want a new champion this year. Red Bull should have won it way earlier considering how the rule changes favoured them. Ross Brawn recently said that had he known the 2021 rule changes would favour high rake cars so much he wouldn’t have done it and reduced downforce some other way which affected all teams more equally.
My first reaction to that was yeah right. Someone with his technical knowledge would have probably known that. I wonder if that was a bit of a fuck you from Brawn to Toto for basically ousting him from Mercedes.

One thing I do dislike about Liberty is that it’s a publicly trading company. Whereas before the political behind the scenes stuff was a giant circle jerk fest between the teams and FIA now it is far more than that as there’s so many interests to please. They want the constant drama and media attention. Just look at their stock this year.

So 2022 wheel and tyre testing is happening today. The carbon fibre steelies are back which I think looks better than the GP2 18” wheels which are regular alloys.

McLaren have figured out how to stick advertising on their rims

That’s the picture before Max swept in from nowhere and took it instead.

'Steelies'? I think it's a while since F1 used wheels made of steel

Just slang for their resemblance to steel wheels.

I love wheels with aero covers. I was hoping we were going to get stationary front wheel disks like the 2006ish cars.

Mercedes have pulled their appeal, however the matter is still to be looked into as the FIA have announced they’re going to investigate the circumstances around the race

Yeah, I think it's the sensible way forward. Link

Wrong to reverse anything now, but it has to be better next year.

Yep, Max didn't do anything wrong, so you can't punish him by reversing the order they crossed the line - all the wrong doing was the FIA/Masi. They're the clowns who need to be held accountable.

if the outcome of it is "Masi is a dick, we've sacked him" then everyone's a winner.

Mercedes are going to drop any further efforts - Hamilton doesn't want to win his 8th title in Court.

I can understand that.

The rest of us understood it 2 hours ago when Duncs posted it and then we discussed it! 😉
