My wild tame pheasant
My wild tame pheasant
I feed the wild birds in the garden. We get a great variety at the feeders. Things like robins don’t like hanging off them, so I always fling a bit on the ground too.
We have always had the odd pheasant in the garden too. Males are very striking with their bold colours, but the females have awesome yet much more subdued plumage too.
Over winter I discovered I had a regular morning visitor. She’d be waiting for me to come out and was increasingly bold. Never fed her out of my hand cos I was never bothered about that, but if I wandered into the living room in the morning she’d run up to the window and squawk at me to get out and dish up some feckin peanuts. When I came out to answer her demands, she’d come to within about 1.5m quite happily.
This has been going on for a while. Mrs mik prodded me several times about the new lady in my life. Yeah yeah. Great way to start the day imho.
She didn’t appear on Monday morning.
Eldest miklet advised a squished female pheasant on the road nearby on Monday evening. Balls. I’d take a look in the morning.
Monday night (Aftually Tuesday morning) at 03:10 I was woken up by the cameras sensing movement. A fox. Which ran back and forth to the road over the next 50mins waking me up several times. The fooker.
No pheasanty body to take a look at on Tuesday morning. Ah.
So it looks like she has gone. Didn’t even give her a name. RIP wild animal with which I had developed a relationship. Balls.

Re: My wild tame pheasant
My grandad used to have a shoot on his land. A couple of pheasants had hidden too close to the house to get shot and became his pets he used to go and feed them some corn a couple of times a day. They’d come and take it off his hand.
Loads more pheasants around in general this year because ethe shooting season was massively interrupted by various lockdown and corona measures.

That's sorted then. And as we know Mr. Burns is minted, so Scott is in for some serious giftage!
