Daft Punk
It seems they've called time:
Re: Daft Punk
Hard to believe their first single releases were 25 years ago. They've had proper staying power.

Re: Daft Punk
Saw them live at rockness about 14 years ago, they did a very similar to the seminal cochella live set.
That first album was just brilliant, so industrial, the second was also a masterpiece!
Re: Daft Punk
Me too! To this day one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to - the place nearly fell apart when their suits lit up towards the end. Had to open up the sides of the tent it was that heaving.
The video that accompanies this announcement is really well done.
Definitely still a sad day, regardless of their later output.

They made everything from banging to beautiful.

Re: Daft Punk
Pretty sure that video is from another project they did, but it's quite apt.
Better to bow out happy with what they've done than to drag it out if that's how they feel - let's face it, knocking on thirty years of great art is a pretty good legacy.

The only thing I find odd about these types of announcement is why even bother? Why not just remain quiet? It seems very final yet so often proves not to be the case 10, 20, 30yrs later.
Re: Daft Punk
I suppose it's easier than being asked 'when's your next album/project' for the next 10, 20, 30 years....

Just watched the video and realised it’s from the end of the movie they made a couple of years ago. It’s called Electroma and it’s worth a watch if you’re a fan.
An absolute unit
