Rules is rules, it's a fair cop guv'nor. A few years ago that canuck lad fractured mr umpire's eye socket, tad more serious.

Not trying to make excuses - I think the punishment is just - but I'm just trying to understand what happened.

its not hard, he got in a mood and hit a ball without looking where it would go.
Same happens when my two year old gets moody and throws a toy - he gets the toy taken away and he says sorry or sits in the corner til he does. Next day he gets the toy back.

She went down like a sack of spuds, but to be fair, apart from the speeding projectile to her throat, it was totally unexpected so I suspect shock came in to her reaction. The guy’s a prize winning arsehole, but disqualification? Gies a break.
