Claire and Frank Williams F1 careers.

Post by Jimmy Choo »

They're stepping away from the F1 team.

Or have been told to fuck off and stop breaking it. Rumour has it that Otmar Sznafnaerecvjncdehitwxqx from Racing point will be stepping in.

So Frank was bought out and Claire was asked to stay on but feels it’s right to step away.
This pretty much sums up that she was nothing more than a puppet. The new owners can’t run it any worse.
How about not having a sig at all?

Sad to see but Williams will probably probably be better off under new management.

Frank is well due his retirement.

I always felt the likelihood of your own offspring being the best person for the job is pretty low (don’t tell Trump) so - based on that as opposed to any knowledge of her ability - was always suspicious of Claire.

They once dominated - still a great legacy for Frank.

They were my first F1 team I followed with any real interest, as my late father knew somebody there and got me one of those Rothmans jackets. God I loved that thing. Hope they succeed in the future.

That's certainly what he thought - perhaps not surprisingly

The old adage of family businesses is that the first generation establish it, the second build it and the third squander it. Looks like they skipped a generation for Williams...

Yep, I'm sure Peter Windsor (who was team manager at Williams during the 80s) made a video about this, can't find it though. Maybe it was on one of his podcasts.

There's an article he wrote on this site about it. Basically Jonny Williams was the heir apparent. Had cut his teeth as a team manager in lower formula, but was overlooked by Toto Wolff.

Interesting read, if you're interested in such things 😉

Wonder if the Williams name will last long now?

I was thinking that. On the face of it, no reason why the name should go. McLaren still around, after all. But whether the new owners choose to rebrand and start over remains to be seen.

It’s always difficult to cut through the inevitable personal bias of any writer, but Interesting indeed.

They've had 16 drivers who have won races. I got 13 of them.

If I’d only got 7 I definitely would not admit it on here. :?

It told me Riccardo patrese was wrong as I didn’t capitalise it presumably ?

Would have got more if I could actually spell.

I forgot that Senna never actually won a race in a Williams.
