Cheers Rev

Post by Nefarious »

Big thanks to Mr. Rev and family for being the makeshift StrongBroo team for the weekend!

For thew rest of you Dave and his eldest Dylan were on spanner duties for the first round of our Renegade Cup at Oulton Park. Lovely weekend, amazing cars in the paddock (historic F2s, touring cars, Cam-am/pre-60s sports etc etc), and great to drive Oulton in anger for the first time.

Sadly, the results weren't as strong as we might have hoped - mechanical problems in practice (nearly lost a wheel at 100+ when a wishbone bolt failed) meant little practice and no chance to adjust the set-up. Qualified 5th, but a spin in the penultimate lap of the race meant I only managed 9th overall (out of 22) and 2nd in class. Ultimately, it came down primarily to lack of experience (both in the driving and engineering departments), not helped by driver rustiness, but lots of fun, and lots of lessons learned for next time :D

That sounds like a poo in the pants kind of moment!

Saw that Dave and his son were helping you out. Looks like they had a top time too!

How come? I don't really know why he left apart from a few exchanges with SJ. :?

The one that failed is for adjusting the camber, so it's not on the nut and bolt check list, because "checking" it would change the camber a bit. Hey ho - just one of those things.

seriously? He was wound up so tight he'd get fired up about 3 times a day on here over stuff that really didn't matter!

Well yeah, but I thought that was just his way, rather than a reason to leave the forum specifically. Surely he's just doing the same thing on twitter, Instagram and FB? After all, people are annoying on every medium.

I think it's more a case of 'one less thing to get wound up about' and the forum was easier for him to drop than FB/TWIT/IG/etc where he knows other people who aren't all cunts

Paraphrasing a twitter discussion, but he realised he was wasting time arguing with folks on here - better to spend his time not arguing (ok arguing less ;) ) with folks on other platforms that were providing a more positive experience. Hence I don’t think he’ll be back.

This place turned him into a bit of a nasty tit and I don’t think that he is one in real life at all.

Each to their own and it’s genuinely nice to see the positive parts of forum life happening.

Fair enough, for me those other mediums expose you to the general public. A few notable exceptions aside, I'd say the average intelligence level on here is a significant improvement!
