Not chippy chips though, they’re different for some reason. Only vinegar or chippy sauce.
Having never had it, nor been to Edinburgh ( :( ) I just looked this up.
Might give it a go tonight as we've got burger and chips on the menu (not from a chippy though)
@JonMad this was already discussed on page 4. See also here
Ta, the random recipe I found was just 50/50 sauce and vinegar. This, with the addition of your finest water, sounds truly subtle by comparison.

By the way, you said there, 'The East for raising their tone at the end of every sentence to make all comments appear to be questions, like total bell-ends.' I had a colleague a long time ago (lift). Who spoke like that (lift). It was really annoying (lift). You couldn't tell if he was asking a question (lift). He didn't sound like he was from Edinburgh though (lift).

Yeah - 50% vinegar dominates Way too much over the broon sauce. 😕

Dunno about your colleague - maybe from some other web-footed town over that way 😉

I’m pleased to see there aren’t any backwards ‘chips and fish’ cunts in this thread.

No can do Mik, the place I visited offer a wooden spork (more southern ingenuity for you there) but I didn’t pick one up as I was taking it back home.

Also I was out of pickled onions at home 😭

Yeah it’s not the biggest is it. Still more than I can eat but I know some places give way more.

What did that cost? Up here a standard fish would be half a big as that again and you get 3 times the chips, so many that I save them for a chip butty a few hours later. That costs £6.20

This was Folkestone so £9.50 the portions aren’t great but it’s the only place in Folkestone where it’s not really greasy to the point of being soggy. Although there is a place by the harbour which is also good but it’s half the portion again!

I tried it after the last thread and it was better with cheap already thinner Aldi sauce rather than HP.

My wife and kids had thought the lockdown had got to me 😂

Have we discussed the habit of covering everything in sauce like some sort of crime scene as opposed to putting a pile of sauce by the side for dipping?
Cheers,

Mike.

No. Start a new thread with voting options....

I *sometimes* put a blob of TommyK on a burger, but otherwise have no time for it.
