When movies rocked!!!!

Post by V8Granite »

I’m all very tired with the general pathetic fuckwittery going on in the UK at the minute and think this can be fixed with some Hollywood gems.

I will make popcorn when I’m home, grab some beers and watch the absolute pinnacle of Hollywood story telling.

No retreat no surrender
Bloodsport
Ernest goes to camp
Mannequin
Beverly Hills cop
Coming to America
Highlander
Arthur
Spies like us
The last star fighter
Bill and teds excellent adventure
The untouchables
The naked gun
War games
Das Boot
Escape from New York
Big trouble in little China
Batman (Keaton)

I’ve seen Cobra, Commando, Over the Top, Star Wars and original Transformers recently so they’ve not been mentioned.

Who has any films they could add to the list Pre 2000.

Cheesy is fine, not really interested in Horrors etc.

Dave!

Ferris Bueller, Goonies, Alien, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Die Hard, Gremlins, The Thing, Blues Brothers, Top Secret, Rambo, Fight Club, The Matrix, Goodfellas, Waynes World.

That’s a few off the top of my head that haven’t been mentioned.

I remember Kim Cattrall made me feel all funny in Mannequin. And Beverly Hills Cop was a rental from the local Esso garage when in primary 6/7.. a few of us sat around slack jawed at the violence, swearing & topless women. I think it was the best thing we’d ever watched.
Cheers,

Mike.

A lot of 90s suggestions above, not that there's anything wrong with that :)

ETA: for some reason I assumed the criterion was 80s cheesy movies; clearly it's not, but I do love an 80s movie so that's where my brain went  Add Terminator 2 to my suggestions, then.

Leon & 5th Element are amazing. I remember importing the NTSC laserdisc of Leon which had the directors cut on it and watching it over and over again.

Leon possibly ranks as one of my favourite films of all time. That said, I haven't watched it probably in well over 10yrs.

When it first came out, one of our friends was absolutely besotted with her. And tried to make a joke of it, but it was very uncomfortable.

He then thought Aliens were trying to steal his thoughts and totally bought in to the whole lizard race thing too. Last I heard he was hoarding gold under his mattress for when society broke down.

Some excellent suggestions, especially Tremors as I used to love that film!!

I’ve never seen Leon either.

Road House is a popular film in our house, it keeps the wife happy.

:o

Coolest shoot 'em up film ever. Add in a Lolita theme, and possibly Gary Oldman's finest performance.

Sort it out Dave!
