Tell it to the SMMT. (It’s probably stuff heavier than the Hilux etc. ranges, which plays to Dave’s point about Hiluxes not being heavy duty enough)

Interestingly LR saw a peak in sales as the Defender ran out in 2015/early 2016, up from 17,000 units a year to 23,000 units a year. A key thing to note is the Defender pricing started at £20k, some £10k less than what Ineos want to charge for the base spec cars. I don't see how Ineos can project sales of 20,000-24,000 units when the 'icon' it's specifically aimed at replacing never sold that many units until it was announced it was running out.

I'm not saying Ineos haven't done their sums or know their demand but it's hard to see how it'll work.

I don’t think there’s pictures of the interior out yet but there’s a picture of a forklift loading a pallet in which suggests it’s at least a partial flat floor.

Rear most windows are panelled, 4 doors still present on the 110.

Have you seen the price of 2nd hand defenders though? My mate is buying a 16 year old one at the moment for £13k!!!

i saw my mates defender today - it needs some cosmetic changes for taste, but holy moly is it in good condition. It only has 39k miles, zero rust and looking underneath I don’t think it’s ever even seen mud! He bought it from his mechanic, who’s owned it for 5 years. The whole underneath is spotless.

Looks like it’s had a recent coat of stonechip to tidy it up. You can see the brown shadow on the axle and above the brake pipe bracket where they missed a bit.
