I still don't know the difference between a full size land cruiser and a fakey jakey one.

The full size one has it’s own platform, I think it might be shared with the big pick up they do in the US now.

IIRC the smaller one’s is shared with the Hilux and 4runner.

ZedLeg wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 2:34 pm My point was that I was talking about the full size Land Cruiser not the smaller one. Which wasn’t traditionally a rival to a Defender, more of a Disco and Range Rover rival.

The Range Rover comparison was based on viewing two separate cars as one when they’re actually quite different.

I’m amazed that it took this much explaining tbh. You seem determined to be confused about this though.
I’m not confused about anything. This is what you wrote when talking about the new Defender;

“The LC shouldn’t be a direct competitor for the Defender anyway. That’s what the Disco/RR are for.”

Yes and I still think that. Amazingly, however many pages of your nonsense it’s been hasn’t changed my mind.

Ah I see, so despite proving that LC sales aren’t in fact very low and that the new Defender is a direct rival to the LC I must be wrong because it’s not what you think and we’ll throw in how it’s a load of nonsense for good measure

800 odd sales is pretty low compared to RR sales (RR + RRS - same car apparently) are about 20+ times more

Yeah, 2% of the total volume didn’t seem like a big deal to me either but I didn’t want stoke the fire anymore

Admittedly, I’m by no means an expert on global car sales strategy so it might be a very important 2%

I saw a 110 today. It’s pretty ungainly looking. The 90 is far better.

I wasn't aware there was litigation ongoing by which JLR were trying to trademark the classic Defender shape - that would have been bad for Ineos. Lost in the High Court though: https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/westmid ... ign-battle

The illustration mistakenly showing the new shape Defender is amusing.

I parked next to a new Defender today when popping into a shop at the petrol station.

It’s confirmed it, it’s too wide and just won’t be practical. It’s the width at arch level which creates the problem and once the door trim inside is taken into account the guy had bugger all room to get in.

He did though have the rear wheel removed and that changed how bulky it looked. It never occurred to me the overall wheel diameter was so big which made the car seem small.

Bowler to make old defenders- 567bhp, £200,000 though

https://www.evo.co.uk/land-rover/defend ... er-licence

Makes the grenadier look a bargain at £50k

Not sure I'd spend £200k on one but I love the idea of a Raptor style Defender.

One of those and that electric one that Johnny Smith had on his channel a wee while ago for the perfect two car garage

Unless the suspension is completely different the idea of 560hp in a Defender sounds hellish

I’d have a honking great big diesel with 300hp but that would not be geared for big speeds.
