I voted before I went looking for where this is being discussed/argued. Where do I look?

Edit: ah - cunningly hidden in the F1 thread.... of all places.

I really like him FWIW. Knowledgeable, quick-witted, first to do pit-walk, coined “proceeded straight to the scene of the accident” etc etc. What’s not to like?

I think him and Murray Walker were my favourite commentating team.
An absolute unit

I definitely miss Brundles grid walks And there’s no denying he’s a decent commentator.

For overall coverage, I don’t think either Sky or ch 4 are as good as the BBC were though.

I think the best pair was Martin and DC, I'd love Sky to take DC on.

Martin is superb though.

Murray was a legend but Martin and DC were still better to me.

I enjoy brundles insight, and his Norfolk twang, but his commentary is pretty flat.

As a whole I really don't enjoy f1 on sky for some reason, I enjoy the c4 commentating partnership far more which is why I was pretty gutted when we lost free to air live races.

I'd be tempted to pay for sky if the c4 team went over and they started focusing more on quality content rather than sheer quantity.

I’m with you on this - I don’t know if it’s just because I’m used to the ch4 output now though.

i haven’t watched many on sky for the last few seasons though, Sky F1 was awful to begin with, crap presenters, weird touch screen bollocks and endless dull features. I guess it’s improved (whilst ch4 has gone downhill).

Can’t fault Murray for his enthusiasm or huge knowledge, but he always needed to be paired with a driver so errors could be corrected...

“HE’S SLOWING - HIS TURBO HAS GONE!”
“He’s got a right rear puncture”

“AND HE’S PAST! WHAT POWER!”
“He got him on the brakes”

I preferred James Hunt and Murray Walker, but there’s no question Brundle is good.

Not sure he’ll ever be revered in the same way as Murray, or Johnners for the cricket; that era of personality commentator seems to have gone in every sport.

I remember reading/listening to Blowers (Henry Blofeld, my dear old thing) on this subject. His take on it was that as the sports men/women became more focussed/determined/dedicated, they became more boring. Therefore generating more boring commentators.
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on
