Coronavirus
Re: Coronavirus
Depending how your other family members have been spending lockdown and recently I’d be tempted to just go for it if that’s the sort of celebration you and your wife want. So long as you’ve all been sensible, its not a risky thing to do surely?
I’m guessing the limits have been put in place to stop gatherings from workplaces and large groups of friends who’re all coming from different households meaning the potential number of people everyone has been in contact with suddenly shoots up?

That is utterly insane. Absolute peak Trump and can’t be bettered.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:14 am The writers of SNL now considering hanging up their pens.
It has to be Armando Iannucci trolling us right? The tiny chairs... to the way its shot... catching the facial expressions of the reporter and the way Trump is flapping bits of paper about with graphs.
Absolutely bat shit crazy. How can anybody in the US vote for him if they watch that clip? He’s gone wrong in the head.
My money is on zombie-Beadle being the man in the mask.

Yep. The conspiracy nutters on PH seem to think the delay was to get around any accusations under the Equality Act of it specifically targetting muslims because of Eid.Jobbo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:10 pmComes into force tomorrow. I can't imagine many will stick to the new rules for the sake of a £50 fpn.

Enjoyed C4s Race against the virus documentary this evening, following scientists around the world trying to bind a vaccine overlaid with a timeline of the virus spread around the world.
Cheers, Harry

What’s happened to the contact tracing app, is that now dead in the water?

I watched it a few days ago - I actually found it fairly dull tbh. I watned to hear more about the science and less about the timeline stuff.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 12:02 am Enjoyed C4s Race against the virus documentary this evening, following scientists around the world trying to bind a vaccine overlaid with a timeline of the virus spread around the world.
There was a really interesting article I read not so long ag now though about Prof Gilbert which gives much more insight into how they were able to react so quickly, and the links back through the various recent almost-pandemic viruses such as MERS and Ebola.
Now I wouldn't normally link a Bloomberg article, but this is a really interesting one like I say: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features ... ont-runner

Re: Coronavirus
Learnt something today from this video:
Basically about the immune response, anitbodies and why the testing was a failure. Also goes some distance to explaining why cases like Harry's Mrs and my manager and how they can be so different in recovery.
I'm going to have to research a bit to find out who he is as the google results inevitably reference the hip-hop duo but he seems to conduct himself in a doctor like manner (although he could just be an accomplished presenter).
