Such an offensive thing to say to an Irishman, smh
Thanks lads, that made me laugh...

By the way, “Sorry for your troubles” is pretty much the standard default Irish expression of sympathy...

Perfectly apt Zed...👍🏻
I’m glad at least one of you realised I was joking

To be fair the Irish term "troubles" has been swapped out across the UK for the term "this shit" when referring to coronavirus. It would be amusing to hear Irish folk talk candidly about COVID-19 as "the troubles", it would confuse a few people who thought we'd moved on past that decades ago

It's already the case, isn't it? Scotland and Wales are different to England. Why not make it smaller scale, so if an outbreak occurs in Weston-super-Mare, for instance (not taking a random example, the hospital there was overrun with new COVID19 admissions last weekend and apparently 40% of the medical staff have it now) then everything in Weston shuts down for 14 days.

Of course, quite how you stop people in Wandsworth doing a Gordon Ramsey if a new outbreak started in London, I don't know.

In a technical planning session I once used the term "the final solution" and a non-Jewish person took great offence. There was general bemusement in the room.

And no, it wasn't a planning session about how to commit religious genocide. I think it was about putting some new voice authentication technology in place.
Cheers,

Mike.

Meh, there’s nothing wrong with apologising for offending someone.

Unneeded in this instance admittedly

Its strange times indeed and I really feel for anybody who has lost someone they know recently and couldn't get to a funeral, console loved ones etc.

That said, will we just assume that everybody has made the joke in their heads about all knowing the end to that show, spoiler alert etc and move on?
Cheers,

Mike.
