Anyone support two nations?
Anyone support two nations?
I found out 18 months or so ago I am half English.
I guess I could now support England teams but at my age I am not sure I really can justify it as anything other than glory hunting (or at least hunting for a win! )
Anyone else have this?

My son's half n half. I'm trying to encourage the wife to be reasonable and let him support England and Wales, so he can make the choice when he's older. But she's Welsh and therefore highly unreasonable.

Re: Anyone support two nations?
I was born in Wales, father's lot all Welsh, but my mother is English and her family were Italian. So six nations is always about choices.

Re: Anyone support two nations?
It’s going to be racist to support a single nation from next year
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: Anyone support two nations?
My mum’s family are Scottish (although she’s English), my wife is Welsh and I’m English. I’ll stick to supporting England unless it suits me to change for any reason, with the most tenuous of links.

I usually support France in Rugby, not connection to the place. I started supporting them about 20 years ago because I liked how they played and it stuck.
Supporting a team because they're from where you're from is jingoistic nonsense

An absolute unit
Re: Anyone support two nations?
I'm half Scottish and half German, so I just hate England, rather than supporting any one (or two) teams.
Re: Anyone support two nations?
I support England in any sporting competition where they are not competing against Ireland
Re: Anyone support two nations?
Brazil and England thanks to the wife, but not really a football person. I guess the boy will likely support both when he grows up.

English. I support the Dutch in football, and nobody in anything else.
Re: Anyone support two nations?
The question is - htf did you not know where your parents were/are from?
Re: Anyone support two nations?
If England/GB are playing I support them. There's then various teams who I would get behind if England/GB are not involved. Poland (wife), Scotland (family).
Re: Anyone support two nations?
I support England and whomever is playing the Welsh (even the bloody Aussies)
Re: Anyone support two nations?
I was indeed adopted in Scotland, by Scottish people. I was born in Aberdeen and knew my Bio Mother was from Aberdeen area and my bio father was a "sailor".
I went looking after my son was born and delayed at every minor hurdle while prevaricating. Finally tracked down the social work file to find full details about 18 months ago only to find my paternal roots are Hull. Turns out my GG grandparents were Danish from the Faeroe Islands and likely the maternal side was from Orkney so again, likely Scandinavian roots on both sides so with Welsh, English, Scottish and Danish for definite I guess I could just support whoever the bleep I want but as I barely follow rugby or football any more I did try and cheer on England last year against some rugby nation but I couldn't get in to it, hence the question.

That's a pretty interesting generic link..
