Re: David Bellamy
Honestly, I thought he died years ago. I reckon there was a point when he was just as important as David Attenborough in getting people acquainted with nature.

Re: David Bellamy
Fantastic guy, he came to our school in the mid 80s and was full of beans and excitement. Really lovely person.

Re: David Bellamy
He actually attended my Secondary School. It's where he was educated. Probably our most famous alumni.
But yes, very sad that he's gone. 86 isn't a bad innings though.

Loved his programmes as a kid, proper character and so enthusiastic about nature.

Oh Goodie.
Sorry
I agree with the comments about his importance in terms of nature / environment.
And I chortled heartily at his buffoonery as a children.

Re: David Bellamy
He made a big scientific impact on my childhood and is definitely one of the figures I think of when the authentic British scientific eccentric comes to mind. Full of energy and enthusiasm to draw you heavily into his subject.
Are you confusing him with member of the Goodies, Bill Oddie?

I remember him as always somehow being just on the right side of annoying, and 'wummaging thwough the undewgwoth' gets used to this day.
