Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals

Post by Simon »

What ya got?

Got the wife an iPhone 11 on Voda, 60GB data (20GB data deal but x3 for free), £33 a month with £74 up front. Chuffed to bits with that. It arrived Saturday evening.

Also I went into Guildford on Saturday morning to get a new battery fitted to my Pixel by the official repairer, but they didn't have any screens in stock and there's a good chance they break the old one whilst taking it off to get to the battery. Decided at that point to draw a line under it and not wait for them to get a screen in to do the whole thing (considering they were even out of stock at the warehouse) so ordered a Pixel 3A XL direct from Google for £70 off (£399). That arrives today.

Everything I was watching didn't move that much. In the end went for a 500GB M.2 NVME SSD for £57. now just saving for a Valve index VR set to be hopefully on sale sometime.

I had a look at the 3 or 4 Christmas presents that might be in a Black Friday deal and NONE were any cheaper than normal, despite being "Massively Reduced" on Amazon.

e.g. an electric razor - £170, reduced to £65 could be bought for £60 to £70 in about 10 other places online and in store in Boots.

I can satisfy myself that both of 'my' purchases would've been done anyway, and we just saved money on BF/CM. Haven't bought anything we wouldn't have otherwise bought.

And that's the way to do it. The only thing I was after (wife's Christmas present) wasn't on a deal, so I'll order it now instead.

Oculus Rift S for £350 - Still hasn’t been delivered yet but it’s due today apparently. Don’t understand how these old high street stores with such crap service are still around, probably kept alive by ripping off the 60+ demographic.

8 Camera Swann CCTV system, only got £10 off but it was well priced anyway at £460 for such a system and I was going to buy it anyway.
How about not having a sig at all?

An Echo Dot for £22 for the boy.
A Godox AD200 flash for £204 for me (they've been £267 all year)
Might get the kids a Casio SA-46 keyboard - one each to avoid fighting. My Yamaha one is too complex for them, and too big.
Left over crest; tightens.

To be fair, I did get £25 off the wife’s Christmas present in a Black Friday sale but it was before Black Friday

I didn't buy anything until about 20 minutes ago. I noticed those RHA wireless earphones I'd been eyeing up have £50 off. That'll do for me.

Bought some computer bits. Not specifically on sale, but decent prices on amazon ( cheaper than anywhere else I could find ) and a bit of economics in action. Plus £10 off some perfume for the mrs which I was going to buy anyway.

£450 off an iMac and £30 off the numeric keypad magic keyboard. But I struggled to find genuine deals on anything I wanted.

My Delonghi bean to cup coffee machine broke around 2 months ago, I tried a Nespresso and didn’t like it so waited till this weekend to buy a new bean to cup machine, Delonghi reduced down to £300 from £600 which I would have bought but then saw a deal on Costco for a bean to cup melitta machine for £230 so bought that. It doesn’t have a milk frother but I only want espressos and americanos. Cheapest bean to cup machine I’ve seen and 2 year warranty.

Amazon, they were on offer Fri-today.

Dinny, I didn’t see any Weber deals which were better than the end of summer ones.

I picked up one item which I was going to buy anyway, I’m glad I waited too, I was surprised it even came up on offer and I saved £50/25% so I was quite happy with that.

I don’t get the spending for the sake of spending on Black Friday.

Ok - pity... the Genesis is a cracking bbq/grill/outdoor cooking implement (delete as necessary)
