Re: The Watches Thread
Something I noticed while wandering around in Brighton yesterday was how many Rolexes (and other luxury watch brands) there were in all the second hand jewellers (compared to a couple of years ago) During the Covid and post-Covid boom, there just wasn't the stock, but now, every shop seemed to have ...

Re: The Watches Thread
I have a perception (based on not much at all) that the PVD coating could chip and damage (revealing the steel below) - is that a thing?

Jay-me it's always great when people achieve something they've been wanting for a while - so congrats on that Seeing your Sinn reminded me that I saw a Rolex Submariner "hulk" in black PVD the other day I'm not a fan, but I can see how it could be appealing to others It was used, and £19k...

Re: The Movie Thread
Ascender we saw it at our local Picture House cinema, and when it finished, the audience was very quiet/stunned As we've both said, it's so overwhelming, I'm not quite sure if it was actually any good Will look forward to watching it again at home, where I can have the sub-titles on! (I got a lot m...

Re: The Movie Thread
We went to see Dune 2 at the IMAX yesterday and it was pretty mind blowing. The visuals and score were stunning - an absolute assault on the senses. Loved it. Would recommend. Went to see this tonight too (although not IMAX) Not sure if good or not A stunning experience visually and sonically Which...

Re: Euromillions immediate purchase
My wife and I have always said that the first thing we'd do is purchase an open, first class ticket and spend a good amount of time travelling and exploring the world, and letting things settle down
There's always time to buys things - we'd spend our money/time having experiences

Doesn’t state where it will do 0-60 in 1 second. It may be being pushed off a cliff… The two seater dragster I went in at Santa Pod does 0-60 in about a second (and about 60 feet too) Maybe if the Tesla was fitted with super sticky drag tyres and was running on a prep'd dragstrip it's feasible? But...

Re: Randomness
We should also ban Guy Ritchie's film "Snatch" as well because it refers to "pikeys" which is also a derogatory term Or is that OK because the characters use it in a derogatory way because of their character traits? i.e. a racist character could use the word "hottentots"...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68402362 Every day is a school day... "The Khoikhoi were called the 'Hottentots' by European settlers because the sound of their language was so different from any European language, and they could not pronounce many of the words and sounds."

Or camera....
I've been watching it on YouTube for a long while or now and do enjoy it
It's completely pretentious though (in a good way)

Seriously brave and not a little lucky, the tank missed once or twice before being blinded. There was a 2nd Bradley that was in the fight too. Watched an interview with the crew and the gunner had graduated from training in Germany in December. Guy is hoping the successful mission will help get his...

I think our brains are soon going to melt from information overload. It's bad enough have a smartphone that you have to fight to stop overdosing on unnecessary crap, now he's got it set up so he just has it all around him. I want less of this shit personally (must be getting old). I recently bought...
Re: Trump
It's another step, but now it's down to the Supreme Court which is heavily stacked in his favour
Their decision could kind of be make or break for the US

Re: Tedious but traditional New Car thread
Nice one Beany Congrats on the new car! And yeah, it was me who had the Birds kit fitted to my M140i I had their suspension kit, an LSD, and the rear subframe brace (oddly the 3 doors come with this, but not the five doors - the latter of which maybe need it more) It's not cheap, but it totally tran...
Re: EV Thread
Different starting point, there’s less gains to be made on a car which is already fitted with 90+ % efficient drivetrain vs one which was only 20% to start with. This is kind of what I mean, there's not really a massive amount of potential left on the table when it comes to EVs I happened to watch ...
Re: EV Thread
The Macan will be the Taycan killer in the same way the Model Y is now the only Tesla you see. I hadn’t realised Porsche were going to update the Taycan with the tech from the EV Macan so quickly though. I think you’re right; I hope that means a gen2 Taycan Cross Turismo with 360 mile range is now ...
Re: EV Thread
For someone really "into" cars and technology, I have to admit, I'm very bored of electric cars already. They don't excite me, and it doesn't appear there's very much innovation/development going on? The biggest challenge people seem to feel about them is range, and when it comes to tackli...
