Re: Have you EV’d?

And that's just reminded me I test drove a Kia Niro EV and an Ora Funky Cat at the Farnborough Motor Show earlier this year. The Kia was a much nicer place to be. The Funky Cat had indicators that didn't cancel properly. I recall a Jonny Smith video where he mentioned the same.

Re: The Music Thread

Through a random conversation I have now heard Sleaford Mods for the first time (punk, shouty, sweary commentary with a modern-day Bez pressing go on his laptop dance track then variously dancing around or just supping a beer - genius! How did I not know they existed?). https://youtu.be/dEYYI1ii0AU?...

I used to have room for two cars in the garage. Now I have kids, and a trailer, and a CostCo buy stuff in bulk habit.

Re: Crumbing parents

Yeah, my Mum and Dad are really open about discussing their health (to excess, sometimes) and we have Powers of Attorney in place already. Mentally they are both in a good place, probably better than in years, at the moment. Physically less so, esp my Dad who's waiting for a second knee replacement ...

Handbrake turns in my Dad's Triumph Toledo round Rushmoor Arena. Quite nice to now be me doing the handbrake turns there at targa rallies (though not this year as it clashes with my son's birthday and he's too young/small to be my navigator).

Re: British Ryanairways...

The high line was great in summer, not convinced it would be as much fun in December! This is a general worry, and it seems to be worrying my wife an awful lot. How much outdoor stuff we'll actually want to do, like standing outside 110 floors up! Suspect cold winds on the street corners will be th...

Re: Any recommendations for winter tyres?

Yeah, our cross climates have been great on occasional snow. Leave them on all year round on the Yeti. I bought a cheap set for the Fabia as well so I could use that instead in the snow. It's not snowed since then, and it's off the road currently anyway. Winters if you live somewhere guaranteeing sn...

Complete thread hijack/ Any decent but not completely off the scale expensive NYC restaurant recommendations for a celebration are most welcome. Re: Ubiquitous guess my new car competition

Non existent, not even a hint of it. I was thinking exactly the same when I was driving it home, it feels like another 100hp wouldn't trouble it at all which is very odd for a wrong wheel drive car. Interesting, my Megane 250 Cup (2010 model, 305bhp) had some noticeable torque steer iirc. The diff ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Yeti is back from repairs after its brush with a wooden post, looking fixed and, as a bonus, shiny. Good service from Solus in Basingstoke. The Corsa courtesy car had too-light steering and typically Vauxhall unsupportive seats (imo) but I enjoyed trying out a heated steering wheel and my daughter e...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Harnesses - I'd recommend upgrading to 5 / 6 point if possible, the crotch strap(s) help keep the waist strap down on your pelvis rather than riding up onto your stomach. Yes, I should get round to this in the Fabia. As well as the anti-submarining aspect, should make them a whole lot more comfy. R...
