Re: Commuting Question

10 mins each way isn't that short a journey, and you'll get some heat into the car if you're going down a 70mph road in it. I bought a folding ebike* and have cycled to work on it (there you go, HMRC - tick) but I wouldn't be doing it down any fast roads and only when the weather in not too hot, and...

Shepherd's/cottage pie - mash
Fish pie - pastry lid (or mash?)

I've never really found something that could replace our Yeti in a modern (better) way but you might just have found it (or the GLB to not quite get into the modern age).

Re: City breaks?

Sak’s 5th women’s expensive shoe area has a plain door that goes into a big wooden Ski Lodge with a bar area that has roaring log fires, sheepskin covered seats and some excellent drinks… seems to be full of men with a load of shopping bags dropped by their feet occasionally before the women rush o...

Need to get a few more targa rallies in.
As above. Need to get clutch fixed on Fabia to get more targa rallies in. It's been on SORN since June ('23).

Re: Fur Seals: Secret Lab Titan XL (2020)

Hmm, seeing as I've been using a £15 Ikea chair to work from home for the last 3 years, I should probably get something more ergonomic (although surprisingly, my back hasn't failed yet).

Garage Door Servicing

I didn't know this was a thing. Our motorised garage door, about 2 years old, has started making some ominous noises in operation. https://youtu.be/EIcb511tt0c I first put it down to the weather but it's fairly consistently making a racket. As I don't want it to fail and risk leave the garage insecu...

Re: The fry-up of correctness

I used to grill my bacon but I like using the fat from the bacon rind to cook it in, no extra butter/oil, to a decent level of crispiness, then using the remainder of the bacon fat for the eggs afterwards (which are quick, so the bacon stays hot). Then into a toasted bagel, with a smear of brown sau...

Re: The fry-up of correctness

The CORRECT contents of a fry-up are: # fried eggs = 2 or 3 # scrambled eggs portions = 0 # poached eggs = 0 # omlettes = 0 # streaky bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 0 # back bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 2 or 3 # sqkware sausages = 1 (if in Scotland) # link sausages = 2 or 3 # Haggis po...

Re: Letting family members drive your cars third party

You bend you mend it always applies. This. I'm not precious about my cars, as long as people understand they're 100% responsible for what happens I don't mind who drives. You yourself have driven my Compact, @JonMad ! Yep, low value track/race cars and having discussed that, more than happy. It was...

Letting family members drive your cars third party

Where you are fully comp, for a reason, generally car value, and they are permitted by their own insurance to drive your car, but third party only. What are your thoughts on this?
Could also apply to friends driving your car, but feels like with family it's a more contentious question.
