Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I was also going to say that it'll be 5 years since GTA V launched shortly; but the fact that RDR 2 (which I think is a smaller game in scope, so shouldn't take as long to finalise) has been delayed so much indicates that it's just a really long process to build a game which actually uses the modern...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
GTA6 is a long way off, and will be on a new generation of consoles Hmmm - not sure how close it actually is but GTA V came out on the previous gen initially so there's no real reason why GTA VI couldn't straddle the generations too. We haven't yet had a GTA which was built specifically for PS4/XBo...

Re: It's the weekend
Funnily enough I'm in Oxford Sunday and Monday but it's a brief break of tranquility so I'm not going to arrange any meet-ups

Re: The idle dreaming “what next” thread.
New M5 is 1.2s quicker to 100mph than a stock RS6 Rich. Autocar tested it in damp conditions and compared it to dry Audi figures so it might be even quicker like for like.. I’m looking at buying a GT3 (manual 997.2 ideally). Problem is, I’ve just told the wife we can spend a bit more on a new house...
Re: BBQs
Like DaveE's mate, I use my gas bbq far more than I ever would a charcoal one because it's convenient. I can't get the same flamed/seared effect on my domestic hob so it's not quite the same as using a griddle outside. The new Everdure range has some charcoal bbqs with a gas starter - that avoids th...
Re: BBQs
If you want to smoke properly, as in chuck a slab of meat in for many hours you need a tall vertical smoker if cooking over actual coals. I own such a thing, but space is of a premium, and it’s a bit of a one trick pony If you want the new one for grilling, why not get a gas BBQ? You already have t...

Red Dead Redemption 2
I've watched the third trailer which was released yesterday. Having not played the original game, I'm not sure I get it; it seems popular but it's just GTA with horses, isn't it? So a fairly safe way for Rockstar to iron out the bugs in the game engine they'll be using for GTA VI. Anyone getting it,...

Being logged out automatically
I was logged out when I tried to view the forum this morning; I wondered why all the new post icons had gone. Is there a time-limited cookie?
Re: Sky
I thought the Sky installed did a decent job putting in 5 Room feeds from two dishes last year. When we had the fibre connection put in last month, the installers drilled a new hole through the wall and found the Sky chap had drilled horizontally or even downwards from the outside, meaning the holes...

Re: The idle dreaming “what next” thread.
Ste, if you're thinking of moving your X5 on around July-ish then I'd be pretty interested. Bear me in mind.

Re: The Watches Thread
In fact Jobbo is like a slightly harder Jesus, who allegedly was only able to turn water into wine. Turning a watch into wine is far more impressive, if somewhat more costly. ...wine into water is more my stock in trade, tbh. I imagine the water passed will be unpalatable, but ultimately I'm achiev...

Re: The Watches Thread
I now have one fewer watch, thanks to the For Sells thread I posted here. I loved my Black Bay but I didn't wear it so I'm turning it into wine.

Re: The Watches Thread
While I don't like that dial, it seems bonkers that Rolex would replace a dial with a different one when servicing. Surely they should only ever replace the dial with a new identical one?

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Yes, I'm not expecting much from the conversation hence doing it as an online chat and saving a copy. Dinny, whether or not they needed consent for surveys previously, if I expressly ask them not to contact me about such things then they're going to be in blatant breach of the new regs come 25 May. ...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
FWIW I've been unsubscribing spam e-mails for the last couple of years with great success. Only current blatant failure is Mytyres (quelle surprise); when I get their spam now I try to unsubscribe and it tells me I'm already unsubscribed. So I'll be after them later this month too

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Oi, not just retired ones! I've just had an online chat with Vodafone to make it clear I don't want to receive any more of their text message spam and surveys. Inspired by this thread, I've saved a copy of the chat so I can evidence my very clear opting out when they still send me annoying stuff aft...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Soft opt-in is very specific - it probably does apply to many people on your company's mailing list, Rev, but it'd be dangerous for plenty of businesses to rely on it: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/gu ... marketing/

If you’re after legal advice then you’ve left it too late, to be honest. Our GDPR specialist is booked up for months already. Be wary of any solicitor claiming to specialise in it who has any capacity to advise you currently.
