Mito Man wrote: Fri Apr 13, 2018 3:40 pm Sorry but that’s terrible. A logo needs to be clean, you can have one of the characters substituted for a very simplified engine/component but there’s no way we can take over the world with that.
That was what I meant, but I had some fucking decorum about it. ;)

Re: ....and we're back as OV9

If it were pared back to line drawings/posterised that'd kinda work.

Honestly though, just a reasonable font, flipped, would work just as well and require a lot less fiddling on behalf of whomever does it.

Project Binky updates thread

Yeah, we lost that one too.

Anyway, the edit on Ep 17 is on.

So, only a couple of months till it's released ;)

Re: Book review thread

Honestly, most stuff by Stephenson is well worth a look.

Anathem is a bit dense, but very satisfying.

If ever a book rewarded persistence, that's the one.
Yup, that's definitely worth it.

The whole series (The Baroque Cycle, IIRC?) is very readable and a lot of fun.

Re: Decent Recent TV

The Expanse just started its third series and is again looking excellent. Ah, good call. Must check this out, I'd forgotten it was back on! FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Got reminded of this by the (really rather poor) Netflix film that came out, and decided to rewatch it. Netflix splits it into...

Re: ....and we're back as OV9

I posted this on the FB thread, but it bears repeating here: on the subject of the OV9 logo, it probably ought to be freshly drawn rather than blatantly nicked and reversed. We don't want issues with the new forum for a minor bit of copyright infringement. I thought Lawyers and Legal people were bl...

Re: It's the weekend

My plan for the weekend: Today: Do lots of dull work bollocks, then Buy something nice for the missus to make up for being a blithering bumblefuck last weekend (nothing malicious) Spend the rest of the weekend chilling out, chase some work stuff, do some testing of work stuff, etc. Nothing exciting ...

Should have just fucked it off for the night and wanged it in an iFrame mate.

Good work!

Re: And it's gone.

It's funny, but the demise of the old forum I think has made us stronger as a community, odd though that may be to say. It’s just human nature innit, following every great disaster communities get stronger. Yeah, look at how we all teamed up when you joined. I mean, mostly to pick on you, but still...

Re: Enable attachments please Matty

I suppose we can look at the options - other commenting that FaceyB was more mobile friendly have a point, so it'd be interesting to see what the current flavour of the month is with desktop-suitable, but mobile friendly forums. Things like the ability to upload images direct from the camera etc, I ...

Fucked if I can get the /etc/hosts trick to work. Still, not much to do on there now other than leaving abusive messages for the sysadmins I suppose ;)

Re: Enable attachments please Matty

Yeah, I think something like an AWS S3 storage block or similar would be a better idea than something hanging off someone's personal (or worse, work) storage device. Still, it sounds like Mattys got it covered to a reasonable degree for the moment - if we need more space, a simple OwnCloud setup spu...

Re: Book review thread

Read Ready Player One recently. It was OK, but the constant 80s hero worship got a bit tiring (although it's understandable and thematically valid given the story).

Got me wanting to read Snow Crash again. You know, Ready Player One, but for grown ups.

Re: Enable attachments please Matty

Having just bought a 48TB server purely for hosting photos I can feel Matty's pain :D It's a shame the forum software can't automatically resize/adjust quality of photos to fit within 512KB (or whatever) to save people from having to edit their files before uploading. Or can it? Pretty sure you cou...

Re: LG V30+

I think I'm maybe getting tired of tech - I'd take a midrange ~5.5" phone with dual band wireless and 32-odd GB storage, and not be too fussed by any extraneous stuff like curved edge screens, dual sensor cameras etc.

Prrp :(

I'm not saying I posted that to the Disqus on the new 'community' page.

But I will say that they don't appear to moderate before publishing on their disqus, even when attachments are involved.
