Re: BBQs
If you want to smoke properly, as in chuck a slab of meat in for many hours you need a tall vertical smoker if cooking over actual coals. I own such a thing, but space is of a premium, and it’s a bit of a one trick pony If you want the new one for grilling, why not get a gas BBQ? You already have t...

Red Dead Redemption 2
I've watched the third trailer which was released yesterday. Having not played the original game, I'm not sure I get it; it seems popular but it's just GTA with horses, isn't it? So a fairly safe way for Rockstar to iron out the bugs in the game engine they'll be using for GTA VI. Anyone getting it,...

Being logged out automatically
I was logged out when I tried to view the forum this morning; I wondered why all the new post icons had gone. Is there a time-limited cookie?
Re: Sky
I thought the Sky installed did a decent job putting in 5 Room feeds from two dishes last year. When we had the fibre connection put in last month, the installers drilled a new hole through the wall and found the Sky chap had drilled horizontally or even downwards from the outside, meaning the holes...

Re: The idle dreaming “what next” thread.
Ste, if you're thinking of moving your X5 on around July-ish then I'd be pretty interested. Bear me in mind.

Re: The Watches Thread
In fact Jobbo is like a slightly harder Jesus, who allegedly was only able to turn water into wine. Turning a watch into wine is far more impressive, if somewhat more costly. ...wine into water is more my stock in trade, tbh. I imagine the water passed will be unpalatable, but ultimately I'm achiev...

Re: The Watches Thread
I now have one fewer watch, thanks to the For Sells thread I posted here. I loved my Black Bay but I didn't wear it so I'm turning it into wine.

Re: The Watches Thread
While I don't like that dial, it seems bonkers that Rolex would replace a dial with a different one when servicing. Surely they should only ever replace the dial with a new identical one?

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Yes, I'm not expecting much from the conversation hence doing it as an online chat and saving a copy. Dinny, whether or not they needed consent for surveys previously, if I expressly ask them not to contact me about such things then they're going to be in blatant breach of the new regs come 25 May. ...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
FWIW I've been unsubscribing spam e-mails for the last couple of years with great success. Only current blatant failure is Mytyres (quelle surprise); when I get their spam now I try to unsubscribe and it tells me I'm already unsubscribed. So I'll be after them later this month too

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Oi, not just retired ones! I've just had an online chat with Vodafone to make it clear I don't want to receive any more of their text message spam and surveys. Inspired by this thread, I've saved a copy of the chat so I can evidence my very clear opting out when they still send me annoying stuff aft...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
Soft opt-in is very specific - it probably does apply to many people on your company's mailing list, Rev, but it'd be dangerous for plenty of businesses to rely on it: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/gu ... marketing/

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?
If you’re after legal advice then you’ve left it too late, to be honest. Our GDPR specialist is booked up for months already. Be wary of any solicitor claiming to specialise in it who has any capacity to advise you currently.

Re: Been a shitty week
Sad to hear that Mark - I hadn't realised it was so sudden. I haven't lost either of my parents yet (nor even any of my numerous ex-stepmothers) but I don't want to see them getting old and incapable as my grandmother did last year. Not sure losing them this way is better. Hope you're OK.

Get some proper advice from here - http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60 Hateful bunch. I posted on there because I’d had a parking ticket at the station despite having paid via the app. There were a few other people who’d had tickets at the station, so I thought there may be a glitch wi...

Re: Commercial property for private use
Business rates. Occupier is responsible for these, and they apply even if you're not using the unit after a relatively short grace period. If you have a commercial lease you are generally responsible for full repair of the building - either by way of a service charge or directly responsible. And com...
Re: For Sells
That takes away the fee issue but does nothing to protect you from scamming buyers. No way I'd sell anything on eBay unless I'd be willing to write off the sale price.
