Re: Heatwave scores
My colleague gave me a lift in her car yesterday lunchtime and the temp read 30.0C. But it's a Renault so should its electronics be trusted?

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer
I had no idea you got yours for such a good price - excellent buy. Was that from a dealer, who might give you a bit of support with the gearbox?

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
Just found this wonderful article - 15 worst MTB products ever: https://dirtmountainbike.com/bike-reviews/handlebars-saddles/the-15-worst-mountain-bike-products-ever.html/ Gripshift definitely deserves to be in there (though my wife's sit-up-and-beg bike with 8sp hub gears suits it). I remember bein...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
I've only ever had bar ends which clamp round the end of the bars, Dinny. They are indeed Trans X, Rich. Sadly with logo printed in white on the outside as well  Of course they're staying off, though if I ever cut the bars down.... https://www.bankruptbikeparts.co.uk/image/cache/catalog/upload/...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
https://i.imgur.com/iErT06L.jpg Holding them up proves that I don't want to fit them; the bars are 780mm and the bar ends would stick out a long way to catch on foliage etc. Still have bar ends on my old Crosstrail with 660mm bars; I didn't realise how much wider the new bars were until I measured ...

Re: E-Bike chumps
Perhaps ebikes will end up being seen as the equivalent of a ski lift; that's exactly the way I treat them. My genre of riding has a lot in common with skiing/snowboarding - getting back to the top is just a necessary evil rather than part of the activity. I thought that would effectively be my use...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
I think you're supposed to use something like a strap-on harness for GoPro mounting for the best view. Take the strap-on itself off first, of course, in case it gets in shot.

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
I think they are  As I said, I'm debating it - I've had bar ends ever since I got a new bike in 1994, and it's easy enough even now to find new ones in black so some people still like them. I have found myself holding the ends of the bars like Zed, but modern bars are wider and I think bar ends...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
I did fit the bell for 5 minutes, I was able to tuck it out of the way by the gear selector. Decided I didn't need it though and took it off again. Ooh, blue anodised bottle cage Jobbo. Very 90's cool  You jest, but I've got a set of blue anodised bar ends I'm debating whether to fit... Wow, I...

Mclaren 720S really is growing on me. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2018-67-Mclaren-720S-Performance-/284317320177?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Evo (or someone) need to do a comparison test of the McLaren range as a used buy. The prices are not that far apart; is a 600LT a better car than a 720S? I ...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
It always makes me laugh when you get given a bag of that crap with a high end bike! And a bell... top end hardcore downhill bike with a little ding, ding bell. I think shops have to do that though but it’s still ridiculous They do, apparently - when I got my bike it was in stock and they sai...

Another pickup want, but at the other end of the size scale. This would probably fit in the back of the F150  https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/bB8AAOSwNEpgs~9A/s-l1600.jpg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144059476775 Up near Newcastle unfortunately. Would someone like to collect it & stick it in ...

Re: Harry’s Garage
I’m sure that’s a big part of it - takes a moment to get moving when you mash the throttle rather than jumping off the line like a stabbed rat. You just get used to it and press the pedal earlier.
Doesn’t seem to harm economy though.

Re: Harry’s Garage
I'm not sure I would love that gearbox I think it's a bit of a Merc thing - my CLS might be a 7-sp but it's still quite relaxed. But it's never jerky and suits the car; away from rest or coming to a stop it's vastly more refined than the ZF 8-sp, Aisin 8-sp and Audi's 7-sp DSG. Seems once you appro...

What make and model is your turntable? They often have a captive wire. Here are some pretty straightforward instructions even if it doesn't: https://toprecordplayers.com/ground-tur ... rd-player/
