Re: Harry’s Garage

Yeah, agreed. What really irked me though was the XK120 (you just briefly see it at 33:07 in the vid) - the guide describes this 70 year old car's history including lots of competition use, was laid up for a while then restored. It was literally as new. The seats looked like they'd never been sat in...

Re: Harry’s Garage

Felt better value at the £20 or so for a Smith & Sniff podcast ticket with the concours included! tbh I spent 90 mins or so wandering about and could easily have spent longer.

Re: Mountain Biking general thread

How old was the sealant? I know Stans says theirs lasts 2-6 months, I tend to just whack a bit more in every 6 months if I've not changed tyres.

PC - EA racing games bundle

If you fancy a fix of dumb arcadey racers. Haven't played an NFS game for years, Payback is meant to be a bit of a turkey but the others have reviewed well. Unbound is pretty new and the cheapest it's been. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/32318/EA_Racing_Mega_Collection/ Need for Speed Heat Ne...

Have some of these in the rooms where we group stuff together: SAMOTECH Hue Switch Cover V1 (SM200 V1) https://amzn.eu/d/gQcwTl9 Not the best looking but do the job. Elsewhere we tend to use hue to switch things off (eg bedroom lights left on at 9am) or on timers so it looks like people are home whe...

Re: Elon’s Leftorium

I’m guessing the RHD markets just aren’t worth catering to. Even if you have it engineered its more parts to make and stock and accommodate on the production line, plus keep available as spares. S and X are only made in Fremont now and even in the states it’s in tiny volumes compared to 3/Y.

Re: Perpetual IKEA Poang Chairs

Same for our Ikea sofa, bought for our first unfurnished flat together about 15 years ago (I managed to pick it up in my Civic) and it's still absolutely fine. All the covers come off (including arms/base/back) to wash but I got a new unused set for £30 on ebay a couple of years ago and it was like ...

Re: Power Query / Power BI

I also spend a fair bit of time in Power BI reports but don't have to get too involved in building them beyond some quick and dirty pages to explore some data. Thankfully have some good people who make Can recommend datacamp.com, I've been using it for other bits but they have several Power BI cours...

Re: Kids Tamiya RC

Revisiting this as I bought an FTX Tracer for the boy now he's 6. Can be had for sub-£70, 1/16 in truggy or pickup/monster truck style. Super impressed with it, has a speed dial on the transmitter so you can keep it sensible while they're getting used to it but pretty quick on full. Wheels are big e...

Re: EV Thread

London's not the problem - we've had nearly 2 decades of slow-speed silent Prius minicabs to get used to it

My first PHEV didn't have any sound generator and rarely had a problem. Leaf now is quite intrusive at slow speed, and has pretty loud reversing chimes too.

Re: Lego

Still enjoying the chinese fakey lego - last built a £37 Raptor. Nothing wrong with wanting the real thing, the nice boxes/manuals, chasing rarities, etc but I just like building them and £120+ is nuts for a pile of plastic pieces and a few hours entertainment of building it.

Re: Steam Deck

It's actually not bad to use as a linux desktop with a hub/dock and external KVM. I put in the 256GB SSD I had spare, easy if you have any experience taking things apart. That and a 512GB micro SD should do me for a while. Oh, and the jsaux matt screen protector so I'm not looking at reflections of ...

Re: Classic EVs

Anything that is a PITA to maintain is fair game as far as I'm concerned. Once the "character" outweighs the enjoyment, it's time to update :D There's very few engines I'd get sentimental enough about to put up with hassle. Yes I'm a barbarian. Same for me. The electric Ferrari 308 owner ...

LG 32LQ6300 . 1080p and a decent OS with Google stuff (it does Alexa too but you can turn it off).

You can save a bit with the 32LQ630B but it's 720p and I'd rather not.

mk7 Golf right? You should have App-Connect on the screen. Just plug in your phone to the USB port using a lightning cable and it should do the rest.

I was meh about these when announced but a colleague raving about his (and watching some "one year later" videos) made me intrigued enough to order the £349 base one. No queues or preordering now either. On the face of it, seems a relative bargain for the tech and straightforward to upgrad...
