Re: Greggs closed!
I bet they don't use internet-enabled ovens. So hopefully you could buy a warm sausage roll with cash.

Re: Full Fibre
Was on Vodafone (City Fibre) at the last house - 120Mb up and down (fibre is synchronous bandwidth) Openreach's FTTP offering is not the same up and down, even though it is apparently proper FTTP: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/why-not-symetrical.38719/#:~:text=Simply%20put%2C%20Openreach...

Re: Full Fibre
70Mb through Plusnet. There’s generally only me in the house day to day but it’s fine/fast. I just assumed that any broadband deal over 50Mb would be sufficient for anyone, is that not the case? As soon as you have multiple teenagers wanting to download updates at the same time, it’s not enough. Bu...

Re: Full Fibre
I had Virgin fibre (which is to the box in the street, not all the way to your house, so not quite FTTP but still good) for many years. Then moved to the sticks and got Gigaclear FTTP which was solid and fast up and down. Now I’ve gone for Plusnet Full Fibre which seems to be FTTP; it’s fine and low...

Re: I used to be with "it"
I believe tea is the truth or gossip and stems from drag race where they “spill the tea” However I’m as out of touch as the rest of you lot so fuck knows it's always good when the explanation includes a word or phrase that you don't understand! "Drag race", is that some sort of rhyming sl...

Re: Today’s want
The Roland Garros was a very cool 205. I’d rather have a hard top, and 134k miles is well over double the point at which they used to fall apart like a clown car (according to buying guides in the early 90s) but the green paint, white leather and XS spec otherwise is just brilliant.

Love those alloys on an XJ - I’ve never seen them on an XF. Got any pictures?

Re: Your fleet running reports
I've never understood that. Every car I've worked on, the earth lead is quite short and goes directly from battery to chassis. I don't understand what difference it makes. I've always jump started directly battery-to-battery, because that's the equivalent to having a charged battery ? You must have...

Re: I used to be with "it"
I think Tea is tattle - probably started off being an abbreviation spoken as ‘T’ but as usual people online can’t spell. tattle being gossip? Yes indeed. Though having googled it, I think the etymology goes back way further because it’s long been used in the US (‘spill the tea’ rather than ‘spill t...

Re: VOIP Phones
I shouldn't really say it as I provide them, but what's the point in a landline in a house these days? If phones had been invented now rather than in the 19th century, it would have been the mobile phone rather than the landline. Why would anyone want to call a building? Calling a person is inevita...

I bet the newspapers aren’t as heavy as they used to be, too. I remember the Sunday Times 25-30 years ago being reading matter for the whole week.

I just spotted a Facebook ad for a new Audi e-Tron GT. £28,000 dealer contribution. Though I’m sure I’ve seen a Taycan ad with £48k dealer contribution.

Re: The House Projects Thread
I’m not trying to take sides Ian - my view is the reality of this type of court application. The courts are always very reluctant to take away someone’s property. Gav is unusual in that he is not just the landlord, he is also the neighbour who has had to live with this behaviour for years. Most neig...

Re: The House Projects Thread
It feels like the judge lost his nerve when he realised he was going to have to make a possession order. That is exactly what I’d always have in mind with this - they don’t just become homeless, they lose all of the value in their property. They may have brought it on themselves but by failing to e...

That's why I like the pop-up pool - when I get bored in a few years I can take it to the tip and it's as if it was never there.

Re: The House Projects Thread
That's an interesting time to start - I guess it had to be squeezed in after the unplanned adjournment but the judge clearly does not expect it to take too long.
