Ultra Marathon - general running thread
After vascillating for the past couple of years and twice donig relay legs of our local Ultra as well as a few marrathon length multi disciplines I decided to do a full Ultra before turning 50 so next August I will attempt to run 60k. I know there is at least one super fit Ultra runner on her but a ...

I have skewed the poll, I said I had never been in one, but I justr remembered I was in a very short run in a Mercedes EQ something or other.

Re: Crumbing parents
Both my parents are 85 and in pretty good health for it. THey have slowed down and are noticably older than a few years back but Dad can still drive and they still mange the garden and house between them. I am regularkly shown where paperwork etc is which is cheery. My wife's Father is having seriou...

Re: Any recommendations for winter tyres?
I am getting two Vredestein Quadracs all seasons put on the Superb today as the ditch finders it came on, have handily worn down a fair bit. Hopefully the backs will be done shortly too. A few discussions on a Superb FB group and the Vredesteins were highly rated, as were crossclimates.

I am not even sure my amp is plugged in at the mains. I am fairly sure the CD player isn't. I have old Mission speakers, no idea, maybe 732s, and the amp/receiver is a Marantz that retailed around £600 back in the late 90s. Great kit, but if I am WFH I have my phone streaming through a freebie Bluet...

Re: Incorrectly used phrases
Should it not be "Phrases used incorrectly"? does that not imply them at the phrases are correct but their usage is wrong? Looking at the examples, perhaps it should be "morons who have clearly not read a book, mishearing well known phrases, then mangling them by inserting diff...

Re: Courtesy Car Lottery
Superb went in for it's new rear bumper on Monday so last Friday I picked up the equivalent car which was.... a Citroën C5 Aircross. It is utterly hideous in every way, night driving is ruined by the huge bright displays, the steering is stodgy and has some sort of inconsistent lane assist bollocks,...

Re: Best Angry Neighbour Letter
Brand, from the little I have seen of him, actually has a vocabulary, ot just access to a thesaurus though. This letter is horseshit with a few big words shoehorned in, but they detract from what he is trying to say, rather than reinforcing his point if, in fact, he has one. Nob end neighbours are n...

I agree, car crime wankers should be kicked heftily in the balls by that English striker with the 110 kph hoof!

Re: No F1 thread?
Anyone following the Massa v F1 possible legal proceedings? I have seen a few different comments.
1. He wants the 2008 DWC taken from Hamilton to be given to him.
2. He knows that won't happen so wants money.
I am not entirely sure what he hopes to gain, beyond the derision of many fans.

Re: Dumb idea or not?
Dumb. It's just a car. You have insurance. DWAI. Have you ever dealt with a car theft claim out of interest? Trust me "forget about it - its got insurance" is not a fun position to be in. Without stating what I'd think to be the obvious 1) you have to cross your fingers and hope they pay ...

Re: The Holiday French.
We used to spend time in France most years, when I was a kid. One of the first things my mum taught us was "je suis ecossaise" but only ever after trying to ask for un glace or whatever. Given the anti foreigner policies we have had for the last umpteen years, I cannot imagine we are all t...

Re: Our washing machine
re larger capacity, the TD is an 8, the new wm is a 7 or 8, the old one was a 5kg so an extra 40% odd will be fine. It needed new suspension, new seal, new bushes and a new module, plus fitting for al that stuff so was getting on for £500 for a machine that cost us less than that 20 years ago. I mig...
