Accurate. I've not ridden any of mine since October, still trying to get through a slipped disc/sciatica issue Fed.Up.
Fazer just went for it's MOT/service this morning, and I'm negotiating the extortionate insurance renewal offer (multi BJ joke policy)..

Re: EV Thread
The touch buttons and hiding the regen behind a menu are reasons I'm put off the VW platform too, the Hyundai/Kia models are still the best compromise imo. HVAC, Cruise, regen are all buttons/paddles.

Re: Car Plans 2024
No firm plans other than the e-Niro goes back to the lease Co in Feb. Currently nothing jumping out at me that has me convinced its worth replacing, not through some anti-EV thinking, just the costs are a joke at the moment and with the potential recession/world issues I'm not keen on exposing mysel...

Re: 2023 review / 2024 plans
Another fifty candidate here, my plan is lots of events rather than one specific large one. I'm not one for filling these in, as the above from last year illustrates nicely  That said, rather than one big bike trip I managed to attend three Euro WEC (motorcyline endurance races) - Le Man, Spa ...

Re: The Movie Thread
Rebel Moon This is Netflix's latest PoS Honestly, how on earth do these things get green lit? If you asked an AI to write you a film that combines Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, a dash of Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, and Clash of the Titans, it would probably come up with something better than t...

Re: Wales 20mph limit
Now that Drakeford has resigned maybe there's a chance they'll see sense?
The few 20mph zones I've had experience with are tedious, far too long and appear to be through dead town centres anyway ie: no pedestrians anyway..

Re: Solar PV
We’ve just got word Worcester are putting boiler prices up by 9% and baxi adding a flat fee of £120 on every boiler. Reason is they’re getting fined for every heat pump under target they fail to sell, and that is getting passed directly to consumers. Burying heads in the sand, a great business move...
Re: Solar PV
Micro bore pipes won't work but 10mm (?) or more should cope, it's then down to how well existing rads can radiate the lower heat output. And you'll need current spec loft insulation and cavity wall (if applicable) before you qualify for the grant.
Re: Solar PV
Any payback model that doesn't assume energy prices will go up is seriously remiss. If anything it's in their interest to overstate the increases, generate a shorter breakeven, and part you with your money sooner. Current prices are known, future are not (accurately at least), so i can see why they...
Re: Solar PV
I just remember reading something silly like the breakeven point on these is about 16 years but the battery won't last that long so you never recoup the cost of them. Break even in my quote was 8yr, battery warranty was more than that, PV 25yrs. And don't forget pay back is using current electric p...
Re: Solar PV
There is a special hardware (clever inverter -single phase back up interface) that sits between supply and battery, as it needs to cut off any back feed to the grid in event of an outage. Safety etc. You can do panels/battery separate but you'll lose the vat discount on the panels if you do that. Th...
Re: Solar PV
I'm ultimately looking for power outage redundancy and a more resilient power supply (cost too) for an eventual ASHP install. The former is something I would be keen on - the latter is not something I'd thought of but is quite important. I had a 2-3 day power cut in winter 2009/10 and the house got...
Re: Solar PV
Am in discussion with Octopus and another installer myself, looking at PV and battery solution, their surveys seem confident my PV would be enough to fill the battery between May/Sept (all averages and guesstimates etc). Looking like I'll be able to fit a 4kw+ array too, and I'm looking at 9/10kwh ...
Re: Solar PV
Barry, if the PV would be enough to fill the battery between May-Sept, what happens Oct-Apr? Does the battery top up from the grid? The PV will still contribute to the battery, but unlikely to fill it is all. I can decide whether to top up from grid or just use grid power on the other months, depen...
Re: Solar PV
Most PV installs have an app to monitor yeah, did they get shown how to use that? Re: Letting family members drive your cars third party
I'm too critical of NCG mechanical sympathy to let just any one drive my cars, so it's emergencies only for me.
YK let me drive his GT3 on my 3rd party a couple of times, then added me as named driver (like the superstar he was).

WTF? https://twitter.com/simonharris_mbd/status/1732046824918450448 Looks a lovely starter. What’s for the main? I have issues with this. Surely you will end up with bean run away due to being at a lower level than other foods. During scoop it will end to under and cause unnecessary stress during c...

Re: Starters for Christmas dinner
I've gone off the whole gorging myself thing tbh. The amount of waste at this time of year must be incredible. Waste? Noo, the turkey goes into boxing day buffet lunch, then soup. Veg and stuff is fried up for breakfast.. When my entire close family is in one place there's not much getting left ove...

Re: Starters for Christmas dinner
Exactly. The aim is to be full on food sweats so you can relax and watch a crap film, until someone starts making supper and you all pile on again.
