Re: Been a shitty week
Very sorry to hear about your dad, condolences. We lost a family member earlier in the year, it took a month to get to the funeral so everyone was "ready" to go through with it by that point. It helped a lot that we very much made it a celebration of their life and spoke about their achiev...

Re: Worst case of 40mph everywhere folk
We already do that for the worst offenders. I'd like to think if our police force had the funding it needed to put more police back on the roads, because it's been years since I saw one on patrol, they'd be happily stopping folk doing 20 under the limit and weaving into the grass verges for no reaso...

Re: Worst case of 40mph everywhere folk
I have to agree with Rev, if you couldn't go out and pass a driving test tomorrow then you're the person who should be getting off the roads. No one has a right to drive or a right to avoid a retest just because they have a job or need to take time off for a retest. People are killed by piss poor dr...

Re: The Watches Thread
Which Citizen is it? I bought many watches from abroad and never had a problem. It's a BL5250-2 so quite old now. I've found someone in New York via eBay with excellent feedback and several sales of the watch in the last twelve months all with positive reviews, who's just confirmed it's been posted...

Re: Parking fine advice please.
If it's a private parking company then dispute saying you have evidence you didn't stop, but don't tell them exactly what evidence you have.
Chances are they'll drop it to £15 or something.

In all honesty if I could afford that kind of garage I'd enjoy having the problem of shuffling cars in out of their parking spaces.

Re: The Watches Thread
So I found a place which confirmed they had a Citizen in stock and places the order immediately, I got an email a few hours later saying they were in fact sold out and would be issuing a refund. Sigh. The only place left is Bigtime UK, I can't find any reviews of their website so I'm not confident t...

Re: Commercial property for private use
No idea what your financial situation is so please feel free to ignore this post. A friend was looking into doing something similar, but quickly found that renting or buying a larger place and leasing out the extra space "at cost" to some known people would have made the whole thing break ...

Re: Worst case of 40mph everywhere folk
Even on a lease car it's subject to an annual road worthy inspection by the manufacturer in the form of a service, most cars take at least an hour to do properly even if it's just oil and oil filter changes*. I don't see how a retest every five or ten years is inconvenient. It doesn't need to be a f...

Re: Worst case of 40mph everywhere folk
Exactly Rev.
It's more of an inconvenience to get the car MoT'd, or serviced if it's less than three years old and still in warranty, than it is to take a retest every so often. We also need to improve the driving test but that's another topic.

Re: Hybrid batteries
If I'm buying a Porsche then I'm spending that money on something that's decent to drive, no other reason. The PHEV Porsches I've had the experience of are utterly disappointing. If I left home with a full charge, did some urban driving, got to the main roads, then onto a fun road after about 15 mil...

Worst case of 40mph everywhere folk
Pretty amazing this one. I was driving along a very freshly re-surfaced road, it was done with the stone chippings that just sit on the top for a few weeks and eventually clog up the drains. It was pretty sketchy to drive on so only a day or so old. It had the usual 20mph signs up and to be fair the...

Re: Letting people out
Can we also add people who stop to let others out of junctions when there's no one behind them, if they bothered to check their mirrors they'd realise it'd be quicker to sail straight past the junction then the person waiting can just anyway.

Re: The Watches Thread
I really like JL's IWC 8-) I posted on the old forum that I tried to buy a Citizen BL5250-2 from a jewler whilst they were digging around for a battery to fit my Jorg Gray, turned out it was another customers watch they'd put in the cabinet and it wasn't actually for sale, so how dare I ask how much...

Re: Ring Lap Times
It's insanely good and things like the 911 GTx are, in my mind, perfectly acceptable "road cars" to chase 'Ring numbers in because people buy these cars as track toys with the convenience of being Road registered. To be clear I couldn't give a flying fvck for something like a hot hatch tho...

The £500 car for a stag do challenge
This has come up a few times recently so thought I’d post it up on here to see what you lot can come up with. The rules are simple, you’re going on a stag do which is a road trip to say, Scotland, where you’ll tour around for a week. You have a maximum of £500 to go and buy a car for the trip, this ...
