Re: Your fleet running reports

The hottest May bank holiday weekend since records began has pushed me, gently, tenderly, into the direction of getting the aircon on the Mondeo fixed. In other news, it cruises quite well at a GPS indicated 120 mph. Quite a lot quieter at 100. Drinks a *lot* less fuel at 75 though. I imagine the '...

Re: The Movie Thread

There we go, that wasn’t so hard. I dunno, it involved someone else typing long words. EFA 😃 Very true :D Halfway through Nightcrawler review. Because the missus' ten year old came home halfway through, and it's not exactly a PG film. No, it's not X-men - 'nightcrawlers' are the video paparazzi who...

Re: The Cats are good too thread

Boop. Liz Lemon is quite the charmer. Also, she has silly long legs and tail, so when she's walking around, it's like someone has taken a 16:9 picture of a cat and quished it onto a 4:3 screen - all too tall - and when she stretches out on the floor, it's like someone's taken a 4:3 picture of a cat ...

Re: The Movie Thread

It's a slang word to describe people who are aware of and actively trying to counter the circumstances that cause the institutional and casual discrimination of minorities that can hold them back in society. Pretty much. And it's a bit of a pejorative in the more right leaning spheres, which is mor...

Re: The Movie Thread

“Woke”?? If you don't know, I can't fucking explain it. Does anyone know? I think from the glowing remarks it got from some of the more agressively SJWy people I follow on Twitter, I was expecting it to be rather 'right on' in an 'on the nose' way that would have annoyed even lefty liberal old me. ...

Re: It's the weekend

Today: Works dinner, which i'll be bunking out of early to go to Herts and see the missus, after not seeing for for a fortnight. Rest of weekend: Annoy kids, play with cat, lunch at some point with the missus' family, generally chill out a bit. Work has been fucking awful this week, and I intend to ...

Re: The Movie Thread

Black Panther That was pretty good. I have no knowledge of most Marvel stuff and just go from the movies, so I was wondering if BP was going to be...er...a bit 'woke' but no, other than a bit of suspension of disbelief, an entire technologically advanced civilisation hidden in Africa was done prett...

Re: Decent Recent TV

Err, why is The Expanse S3 not on my Netflix? Apparently the streaming rights were bought by Amazon, but I have Prime and I haven't seen it in the schedule. Various sites list UK air dates as tbc. So I guess it's either be patient, or free the signal ;) Episode 4 was great. Disassemble. Aye...

Re: What's wrong with yours?

Got a bit of a squeak on some bumps and humps from the rear. Haven't got around to clearing the boot out and going for a test drive yet (in case it's just something stupid) because it's not affecting anything, it's just a bit annoying.

Re: The idle dreaming “what next” thread.

Thoughts of something 'toyish' to complement the Mondeo. No, not the Puma. P'raps an RX8 or something similarly cheap, smallish, nippy and definitely RWD. No plans, of course. But I am finding that the size of the Mondeo does blunt it on backroads. It takes more than I expected to make it start losi...

Re: Decent Recent TV

Westworld S2 Ep2 was indeed fantastic. Delores has gone full megalomaniac! Although I thought it was Maeve who had all the Jedi mind trick superpowers? Dolores doesn't have Jedi mind tricks, but if someone resurrected you from the dead like it was no big thing, you'd probably start taking her more ...

Re: Decent Recent TV

Westworld S02E02 was brilliant Yup, really enjoyed that. Theirs less teasing this season now that everthings established, and they're straight into the rollocking adventure time! Ash Vs Evil Dead is over and I'm infinitely glad they made it, and a bit sad that it's gone, but it went out with a pret...

Re: Been a shitty week

Compared to the slow degradation of my gran years ago, on balance it is better this way (just). He never knew about it, was over in an instant according to the attending (off-duty) paramedics at the scene moments later. It’s a clean break at least, and we can arrange and plan with certainty for the...

Re: EOTR - Evo Magazine

Remember back in the early days when we all got a chance to be 'contributors' by (I think) having a thread or post that the staff found the most entertaining? Got our forum usernames in the credits of the paper mag. I still have my Evo mug, which I got for something, can't remember what (pretty sure...
