Auf Wiedersehen Golf (EOTR)

Yep, after 208046 miles and nearly 22 years of ownership, the Golf was taken away today to be scrapped. Too much rust around the cills and floor and a load of other things which needed replacing to get through this years MOT meant it was uneconomical to repair it. So off to scrap heap heaven it goes...

There's just no point in this years championship, is there? MV already has it in the bag.

Re: Budget

Did I see something about nuclear power being reclassified as reneable/green and so subject to Govt support? About bloody time someone started taking baseload seriously, and presumably in response to the UKR/RF situation. Only forty years too fucking late, mind. Something something awards for peopl...

Re: No F1 thread?

Channel 4 were hyping up how close things were in qualifying for the top spot.

The Redbulls are three tenths of a second faster than Ferarris, which in F1 is still a lifetime! Half a second faster than Merc too.

RBR will probably have better race pace…

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

The statistics about helmets saving lives definitely don't indicate that they make you safer. You could wrap yourself in bubble-wrap like the Michelin Man and that might improve chances of survival if you bounce off a car's bonnet, but nobody would do it because it would be stupid. It's not like ma...

Re: A celebration of well filled arches

My 968 was made October 1993, so 1994 Model Year, so Cup 2s.

Not sure why they switched to Cup 2s, but they are about 1KG lighter per wheel over the Cup 1, which is a useful saving of unsprung weight.

Re: Harry’s Garage

I think Harry's P8 is fooking ace, I don't know whether that's just him having sold it to me over a number of years or not, but I still want it... :) I think it looks great (preferably without the wing 😉) and it's bloody rapid and sounds really good too. But for me it's probably a bit too heavy and...

I'm still in that hinterland between excitement and "What the fuck have I just done?!" :D
Soon to be followed by the thought "Why didn't I do this years ago" 😁

Great choice Dave, looks wonderful... J'Approuve!

There's too many options here.

Can you create a poll for every couple of options and all the permutations, please?

Re: NC500 - becoming too busy?

Surely you want to run it in before you go to the NC500? ;) With all of the single lane routes, passing places and bumps, I'd imagine it could be quite frustrating in a fast car anyway. There was some parts I definitely didn't want to be going any faster on in a VW T6 LWB. My main memory of the NC5...

Re: Wireless Mobile Charging

I bought a wireless charging pad when I got my work iPhone 13 Mini, as the silly iPhone lead which come with the phone are with USB-C charger side, and lightening the phone end. Other than the ports on my computer and powerbank, I don't have a 3pin plug socket USB charger that has a USB-C socket on ...

Re: What have I been driving?

Twizy, obviously. Good man!! Yes. Been on a Twizzy tour today. What a fun little thing they are. You're never travelling very fast but they were great for the mountain roads out of Puerto de Santiago up to the lava fields of Mount Teide. It reminded me of my Mk1 mx5 as you can have fun but not be m...

Re: Lost baggage

Whilst travelling on my year off, I had my luggage lost about three times. Each time it eventually got to returned to me one way or another. Got a bit paranoid if my luggage would turn up with later trips, to say the least! Anyway, as others have said, always have about three days clothing in your h...

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread

Is that Lings in Harlston? They tried to charge me £50 for adjusting when the brake light comes on, after I asked them to look at it at the first service (had to push the rear brake lever hard to get the brake light to come on) When I pointed out to them that it was like that from new, and I bought ...
