Re: FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
I really would recommend an independent optician who will measure your eye etc. They will assess your eye shape and give you the best idea of which ones will suit you best. You shouldn't have to find out for yourself by trial and error FFS! And I'm sure they would recomend dailies - they prob...

Re: FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
Costco ? Never thought of going there. Problem of course is that I'll end up buying commercial sized stuff that I'll never use or end up eating chicken wraps and 18" pizzas all day

Re: Your fleet running reports
All these updates that I keep reading and I never have anything to add about our Polo. Currently on 27k (65 plate). Fitted 2 new Hankook All seasons in November 21 and they do the job for us. I know they may not be the most "Evo" of tyre but they provide the reassurance of being able to co...

Re: FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
Had my follow up appointment for contacts last Saturday. They seemed to be more organised this time and not as rushed, which is a bonus. Had an hour sat with the lens specialist going through different options and a few more tests. After the hour I was advised to only go down the "dailies"...

Re: FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
Just be a bit wary of ordering varifocals online. Its tricky to measure the path of the center point of focus (not sure what the proper term is) as you look down and your eyes point in. I ended up having to go back to specsavers where it required an optician (rather than the assistants who normally...

Re: FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
Thanks for the replies. Very interesting to read about the experiences had at Specsavers! They have recommended I try daily lenses due to my eye shape but this may be the upselling mentioned ? I'll definitely have a look online at the options available as Specsavers do seem expensive. I got a price ...

FAO Glasses wearers / contact lens folk
I've recently had a new eye test and my prescription has changed. I've been at the local Specsavers for years now and have always had my glasses / contacts from them. Due to a change in my prescription I'm going to get new glasses but may also get contacts instead. I have a trial fitting for lenses ...

Re: Best driving games(Xbox one/PC)
If anyone is still interested in Forza/ Project Cars or Assetto Corsa they have soem pretty cheap at CEX etc. I picked up FM7 and Project Cars for less than £20, (and Just Cause 3 for £3!) it was a good way to use up some old vouchers I had in the wallet. https://i.ibb.co/NV1mJ9m/20220607-122252.jp...

Re: Youngtimers Classic Show at Gawsworth Hall, Macclesfield
Damn, wish I'd known this was on, I'm only 30 mins away (used to live in Macc too). Forgot you used to live over these parts Barry - think there was a thread on the old forum where you mentioned it ( Buxton Road / bottom of the C&F ?) Gawsworth Show is an annual event apparently although I'd no...

8-) https://i.ibb.co/Fw2fBXP/20220603-133502.jpg I forgot to post in the spotted thread I saw one of these t'other day, KNN102V I think it was. Seeing it being driven in the sun out in the sticks, it probably had the same effect it would have had in period - it even had a lack of traffic 8-) I can ...

Youngtimers Classic Show at Gawsworth Hall, Macclesfield
Few pictures from yesterdays show. Never heard of it before ( although we've been to the hall previously ) and had a great variety of stuff there from random kitcars built in an old blokes shed to Ferraris and TVRs etc. Bumped into a couple of mates (red MK2 Golf & Speed (?) Yellow 996 (?) whils...

Re: Decent car YouTubes
Another guilty pleasure is Mat Armstrongs YouTube channel. He's improved massively over the last couple of years, where now I think his stuff is pretty slick and thoroughly entertaining. Been watching him and the Range Rover antics recently. A lot of his stuff isn't to my taste but it's always inte...

https://youtu.be/4GxtMaBAx7w He's a bloke very local to us so it's great to recognise lots of the local area and shows a good bit of variety too. Not afraid to show how much he earns on the sale of the cars as well as how much he spends getting them fixed prior to sale. I like his videos but I'm su...

Re: Drugs, (and absurd job updates)
...m'colleague isn't money driven. He's driven by the fact that his new employer have said that if he needs time off for his depression and suspected ADHD (which he'll be able to afford an independent assessment for soon) that he can take as much time as he needs. That's worth more than money. That...
Re: The iPod
I've got the Beam soundbar and it's great. I was originally going to buy other speakers to back it up but I don't need it. As a way to play music at decent quality without loads of gear, I'd highly recommend them. This, we bought the beam as a replacement for my big ol' cinema set up. Wanted to add...

Dave's phone pix 008.jpg Without a shadow of doubt it would be my old Golf mk2 G60. Basically a "mildy" tweeked supercharged 8v Gti & LHD We first saw it at Bodelwyddan Castle, North Wales at All Types VW show. Sat in the car park in a field me and the kids walked over to it for a nos...
