Re: Your fleet running reports
I spent bloody ages at lunchtime & after work trying to remove it with the correct tool - a 27mm spanner. But there’s just no space to do it. Even after removing the engine bay side covers & the whole air filter assembly. After dinner I went to Halfords and bought an oil filter clamp. Two se...

Re: Full Fibre
Yep, we have 150mbps with ZZOOMM and get a totally solid 190 down & very slightly more up. The modem has failed twice which is a pain but they replaced it FOC both times. I keep considering upgrading to one of their faster packages (I notice they now offer up to 2 gig) but I'm not sure I'd actua...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah. I've been putting it off for possibly years now.
Anyway, MOT has just been passed with no advisories so it can't be too bad ! I'll try to summon the energy to tackle it at the weekend.

Re: Your fleet running reports
And I know you said "Halfords" simply as "not £££££££ Snap-On" but only a small proportion of my tools are Halfords ! Main stuff is Teng but recently I've bought quite a lot of "US Pro" branded tools and although it's clearly lower quality, and I've broken a couple of ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Having driven it 3.2 miles to the MOT place & back today, I'm thinking it's possibly TOO EXTREME as a road car for an old person like me now. It has GAZ coilovers & solid top mounts - not just stiff (yeah I could probably back them off, but I'm pretty sure they're only on a middling setting...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Have you been taking any other notes on this, other than in here? Nah. I don't even frequent other forums nowadays. I'll occasionally drop into the Ferrari one but it's mostly quite irritating - widespread obsession with "factory gated 6sp manual" and humble-bragging about how much they p...

Re: Your fleet running reports
MOT time for the wife's MINI tomorrow. I did oil & filters at the weekend and had a general check over, all OK apart from the rear pads getting low. There's still that clonking from the front suspension but I HAVE ordered new wishbones now along with rear discs & pads. If the weather holds o...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Maybe now if the time to pick one up - may be cheaper and easier than taking the car in to the dealer. I can't vouch for Carly but it's definitely worth having some kind of diagnostics thingummy. Not just the cost & hassle of going to the dealer but the convenience of doing it whenever you like...

Re: Domestic Plumbing Total Lack of Pressure
Right, I think that's done it 8-) Harry's mixer tap trick pushed water through to the adjacent sink but wouldn't clear the blockage, not quite enough pressure I guess. jamcg's airlock suggestion was correct by the looks of it. And I didn't have to resort to the garden hose. I'd forgotten that the el...

That is a Top Tip I'll go try it.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 12:52 pm ...I found putting a thumb firmly over the outlet of the sink mixer tap and turning both hot and cold on full would cause it to shift and be fine for a long while.

Re: Domestic Plumbing Total Lack of Pressure
Ta ! The upstairs taps are definitely not mains fed, the pressure difference between them & downstairs has always been very noticeable. There's been no work - inside or outside - recently. Air lock seems possible; I'd not thought of that, I just went straight to assuming a physical blockage. Hos...

Domestic Plumbing Total Lack of Pressure
It's another FAO jamcg , sorry ! Over the last week or so the pressure on the upstairs cold taps & toilets has dropped to zero - i.e. open the tap, nothing comes out. Toilets were taking longer to refill and now don't at all. Downstairs cold taps are mains pressure and working fine. Water tank i...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I've never understood that. Every car I've worked on, the earth lead is quite short and goes directly from battery to chassis. I don't understand what difference it makes.
I've always jump started directly battery-to-battery, because that's the equivalent to having a charged battery ?
