Re: Twitter
"Start over again" is generally the first solution of someone who thinks the problem(s) they face are big, confusing, and complicated They (foolishly) think doing it from scratch will be easier than sorting out the current, confusing mess I think anyone who's ever worked in software has h...

Re: Smartwatches
Insurance paid out this morning so I've ordered a Fenix 6X Pro from john Lewis. Work gave us a voucher again so it's cost me 5 whole pounds to get the Fenix. So not a disaster.

More fun dunking on Elon. George Hotz (yes, that one - the PS3 hacker who's rapidly learning that development and hacking are two very different things) hosted a space on twitters technical architecture. Musk says they're considering a ground up rewrite to gain velocity because the current twitter ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Oi, my Alpina was a very solid buy. I got a full refund after 6 weeks when I returned it! My E39 540i Touring was more akin to Harry's X5; bought for £5,500 and spent £5k in the first year on it. I just remembered it for that return, can't remember what it did to justify such an ignominious a...

Re: Your fleet running reports
After waiting more than 2 weeks (thanks to Royal mail strikes) for the 1 way valve to arrive for my washers it finally turned up today. 5 minutes later it was fitted, needed a little warming to soften the pvc pipe and they now work again. I've decided to paint the grill black over Christmas as I thi...

Re: Decent car YouTubes
I know 2 of the patsy buyers from Wheeler dealers past that they'd got in when they couldn't sell the cars legitimately. One walks his dog with Paul (and I've known him since we were 10) and when he came to quote to relay our driveway I learnt a hell of a lot about the show and how it worked, we mu...

Re: HandyPerson
Have a go at anything (except Gas and boiler as it's too dangerous) if it needs a cert I get my mate around to sign it. Car no problems, built a racing lawnmower, re-fitted kitchens, re-done bathrooms, built walls, built my office, scratch built a custom shed. Lack of time now is the thing that hind...

Re: Decent car YouTubes
https://youtu.be/ydQwQtgiExw One of Jonny Smith's car cave episodes with Mike Brewer. I've always liked Wheeler Dealers and thought it actually got better when Ant Anstead took over, which seems at odds with our cat being called Edd China, but the recent ones have been absolute terrible. Mike Brewe...
Re: Twitter
I don’t believe in dividing people into ‘good’ and ‘bad’ silos, it’s far better to acknowledge the complexity of human existence. Michael Jackson might be an abhorrent child abuser but his music still slaps. Ok, now try Jimmy Saville. Yeah, then we can do Hitler too  of course I'm not going to...

Winter Diesel
Learned something new yesterday.
I didn't realise we had seasonal formulations of Derv.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_di ... ed_Kingdom
From November till March it's distributed to stop gelling at low temps.
Apparently causes lower MPG in the oil burners too.
