Re: Christchurch

I had the misfortune of seeing the video briefly. The total callousness of it astounds me... This country is like a small back yard, like a little village and that kinda hatred driven right through the middle of it, will I suspect, change the place forever. And that fucks me off so much - the cunts ...

Christchurch

As Beany has so aptly pointed out on his Facebook, switch off your auto play for videos before you go on social media. I only remember feeling this hollow sick to the gut emptiness twice before - during 9/11 and immediately after the Christchurch earthquakes after feeling them 900kms away while sat ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Collected the 86 yesterday - recall work took 4 days. Had OEM plugs, oil filter (not included in recall costs, but oil is), 2017 throw-off bearing and a pilot bearing done. Cost was $300 which is about 150 quid. It's not blown up yet... Mechanic remarked while it was all apart and being touched all ...

Re: I bought a boring but unusual car

See these things everywhere here and a mate has just suggested one as a bike carrying tool. But seeing as you've done the research already - do all the back seats come out and is the floor flat afterwards?

Yes.

Do I have the money or inclination? No...

For the cost that would take I'd sell it and buy the 911.

Re: Your fleet running reports

That doesn't sound good! Edit: just told my boss who has an first edition 86. He'd been advised by Toyota about some engine recall work when he booked it in for a service, but then they cancelled the recall work because they "weren't ready for it". He hadn't heard about the valve issues, ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Having fun and games here with the 86's... If you've not heard Subaru issued recall notices on heaps of engines due to possible valve spring failure, and early 86's are affected. Toyota NZ issued the recalls, Subaru NZ didn't, leaving all BRZ owners, and those of grey import 86s wondering WTF. To ma...

Re: Airbus A380

Not so surprised here... In NZ, where every international flight is pretty bloody long (except Aus) most of the carriers have been moving to the long haul single level planes like the 787 (I think it's that one) - they're basically just much cheaper to run per flight. So I reckon a twin level plane ...

Re: Bicyclist thread

I'd been thinking of getting rid of my trail hardtail and swapping it for 2 bikes. A full-sus trail bike and a lighter, faster carbon XC bike. I kept looking about and decided that what i wanted was too expensive and it'd have to wait. I thought I'd managed to resist buying a 5010 to fulfil the tra...

Dealer I use for my servicing on the GT86 is the importer for all the TRD and modding parts in NZ. They're already 'suggesting' the 4pot versions is specifically as a cheap entry point for people doing modifying, no more.

Re: 2018 - A Year In Review & Plans for 2019

I don't know if I've done one of these before, but I guess they're a combo of being both interesting to others and slightly self therapeutic to yourself so fuck it, late as it is... I saw in NY 2018 stood outside my girlfriend's apartment which she'd loaned me while going away for a month to Africa....
