Jobbo wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:29 am I bet the newspapers aren’t as heavy as they used to be, too. I remember the Sunday Times 25-30 years ago being reading matter for the whole week.
It still perturbs me when people say this and I realise it now means "turn of the millenium" not 1985.

Re: The House Projects Thread

That's very annoying. I mean "later in the year" should not be acceptable timing for a follow up hearing - the court system really doesn't work does it.

Re: Driving Shoes

IMO these are the best answer to that question: https://piloti.com/collections/all/products/shift-black Lots of different styles and not obvious they are a driving shoe, nor look like they're from the JJB discount bin. Flexible sole is great for driving. Mine have lasted for years and look barely wo...

Re: Your fleet running reports

New sporty red toy has arrived. https://i.imgur.com/7E8cxy3.jpg It has a V-twin but does not sound like a Ducati. Maybe needs an Akrapovic. The key looks very easy to bypass with a screwdriver; Lock Picking Lawyer would not consider it terribly secure so it is obviously now locked in the garage. Lo...

Many drinks, I expect, if that is the verdict. I'm still slightly less than many - which is decent for a Wednesday

And the derivative new electric 5 is still easily my favourite new small EV of the moment - design enduring even through re-interpretation.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Another Smart related malady! No exploding glass but my wife rang me on the way into work this morning to say she'd got home from the school run and the car had proceeded to refuse to relinquish the key. Even more annoyingly this was stuck in the "1" position with the accessory power on wh...

Re: Exploding tempered glasses

The smarts (well 453 at least) also seem to have these horrible wiry carpets that trap absolutely everything and if you try and agitate it with a hoover then go all fuzzy and even worse  Both mine & Gavster's are 450s but pre & post facelift, and the carpet in the facelift car is noti...

At least you didn't have to wash the glass out of your hair  but yeah, I expect to find small bits of glass in my Smart from now until the end of eternity. Jesus! I'll err omit to mention to my wife that this could happen... To be honest as she doesn't do over 30 anywhere around here I imagine the risk is somewhat lower.

Drove the Mini for the first time in 10 months today. The tyres felt rather flat-spotted at first but it was great fun. Now it’s living in our garage rather than storage, and is taxed for the year (I remembered at the last minute) I might use it a bit more. https://i.imgur.com/1rVl3zd.jpeg Massive ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

991 was flashing low battery warnings at me and playing up in other funny ways such as not opening the frunk from the key so I took it out for a good long run down to Birling Gap. Was a faithful companion in the sometimes slimy 7 def conditions. Definitely think the 4WD contributed but very subtle i...

Rivian SUV thing that the American Yootoobers like. I quite liked the look of it actually. Much better than the horrible Yukon and Escalades that they drive out there.

I was too late to organise and no space in the FB so I'm at the Radisson next door - not quite the same! Plus I'm not paying so missed out on that one.

Yes second shot was of the SoHo - will see if I can give their breakfast a try before I leave!

Crappy picture as trying not to look too obvious given I'm on a business trip, but Miami is certainly good for car spotting! https://i.imgur.com/y37amtQ.jpeg Both for supercars and also seemingly th highest number of G-wagens anywhere on earth, sometimes in matching pairs... https://i.imgur.com/WsvE...

Re: Your fleet running reports

New bonnet & boot struts for the Vantage. Just over £30 each seemed alright for genuine parts from a main dealer It needs an MOT too. I’m not expecting any problems there. That does seem reasonable. Need to get this fixed on the GTS - bonnet keeps clouting my head when accessing the frunk. Weir...
