Re: Staycation

Some of my favourite holidays as a kid were when we took the caravan to Castlewellan. It was less than an hour away from our house.

Re: Northern Ireland Peace

Being from the leafy suburbs of East and South Belfast the segregation and violence, mostly in inner city West and North Belfast, for the most part seemed very distant to me. Sectarian decisions have very rarely entered my experience of living in the city - there's only really one stand out incident...

Re: The Watches Thread

@Pete_ I always ask international sellers if they would declare the value of the watch a lot lower. For example, my recent Grand Seiko the seller declared it £200 which meant I saved a huge chunk on import charges, the real value is £5k. As a buyer, it doesn't matter if anything happens to the watc...

Re: The Watches Thread

Anybody have experience buying through Chronos24? There's a few for sale on there, but I don't know anything about the platform. I've bought many watches on Chrono24 before, most from abroad, some watches into five figures (not bragging) and never had any issues. Make sure you check on the seller f...

This is such a brilliant watch. The company car one is epic! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDBt1HWo1Rc_5b_zZypbe3chRLI3YFDTx 3:07 - 3:40: if Bruce Springsteen were a female from the Midlands these would be the lyrics to Racing in the Street  Just watched the company car one after seei...

New 36mm Explorer launched today looks, well, like a 36mm Explorer! Interesting that they downsized it from 39mm to 36, I (and I think everyone else who has an interest in these sorts of things) expected it to go up to 41mm to match last year's upsizing of the largest Oyster Perpetual from 39mm to 4...

Re: Lets have a game of WTF is this..!!

Never seen one of those before. As it was for Car and Classic I assume it's a genuine Jaguar but if I saw one of the street I'd probably think it was a home built kit car. I'll take a guess and say it's not as old as it looks .. late 80s / early 90s maybe?

Re: Why I won’t be buying an EV anytime soon...

If I had a home EV charger I would ask my friends if they wanted to plug in their car as a matter of course when they come over. When they respond that they drive a petrol / diesel car I would give them a bemused look for a couple of seconds then respond "oh, you're still driving one of those ....

That's what I thought too. I hadn't heard of him before but seems he's been the main commentator for the GR3 and GP2 so probably has the right experience for the job, but don't like his commentory style. DC as lead with Webber and / or Monger would be good. Really hope Vettel can get used to the ca...

I don’t think I’m going to get on with the new c4 commentary team. Bloke sounds like a cheesy smashy and nicey 80s radio DJ. That's what I thought too. Re: Anyone big in Crypto?

I bought a few hundred £ worth of crypto when there was a price peak three years ago then it crashed. I only remembered about it when prices started climbing again in January and, expecting history to repeat itself and there be another crash, I was happy to sell it for about the same amount that I b...

I sold my car within a week of moving to London two years ago and honestly think I'd only have benefited from having one on three occasions since. Obviously you need one to travel back home, but I don't know why so many people need cars in London anyway.

Re: New new new new Top Gear

My dad used to reminisce a lot about his old Renault 4, but I'm not sure what else he owned before I was born. When I was very young he was a Mazda salesman so we had various Mazdas in the mid 90s, then a Renault Laguna which we towed a caravan behind to go on caravan holidays. In 2003 they got the ...
