Re: Harry’s Garage

GG. wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:28 am I was amazed at how cheap it was to do the conversion. I'd expect there to be a massive queue of CSL owners looking to do this and sod the originality... keep a box of the old bits to put it back if necessary.

The e60 M5 would be a great one to do too.

Re: New new new new Top Gear

Great episode. First one I remember was a red Mk3 Eacort 1.6. Dad was a sales rep for a chemical company then for Avon tyres so he had a series of new company cars. He had a couple of Morris marinas when I was really young. I’ve seen photos but can’t remember those. From memory. Mk3 Escort 1.6 x2 Mk...

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer

This is how much quicker the S3 is over the S1 up the hill :) This is what got me looking at S3's I think that would have got me looking at Nobles, the way that thing disappears is quite impressive. As it should be a for a Duratec V6 with a couple of turbos slapped on, weighing around a ton (as I r...

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer

Prices for cars should start to fall slightly over the year, shirley? Private market opening up, end of the furlough, people able to spend on holidays/pubs/hospitality again... At least thats my hope. Car prices are nuts at the moment. Elise going out of production - all Final Edition cars sold out...

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer

I'm back to wondering whether an Elise of some variety (S3 really appeals) and a cheap van/pick up would suit my needs best after reading this thread! Still got 9 months to decide though! Theres a guy on SELOC looking to sell his S3. He was talking about £25k. Looks decent - but its no club racer.....

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer

I like the lime green Club Racer S which Will Blackham is currently selling. Wrong wheels, but that wouldn't put me off. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11339776 Was for sale for less on SELOC a week before he bought it. The forged wheels were a £1200 option. That is also a particularly rar...

though wtf have they got a big plastic engine cover?! Is it serving a function like keeping water out?!
Exactly that. The water runs off round it rather than directly on to the injectors.

Re: Lotus Elise Club Racer

How cheap? I did the same with my nitrons, and ended up hundreds of pounds down compared to getting a good set.. £250 Damn that's good. Rebuild cost? From the bilstein website As a guide rebuilds start from £80 + VAT per unit, £100 + VAT for a sport unit. In many cases its more cost effective to si...
