Re: Your fleet running reports

Sileck motorsport wiring on the south coast, they redid the engine harness, starter motor harness (which was really bad) and rewired the throttle body, £640 inc vat which isn’t that bad. Excellent cheers. My lower harness was £500 alone and it’s the same again for the upper, that doesn’t include th...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Even though you can get repair panels i didn’t want to start patching stuff in so bought a donor car. Donor car was also silver so that meant I managed to get matching rust free wings and bonnet at the same time. Should help minimise the amount of paint it will need once it comes out. Engine has be...

Re: £5k - what car

Having owned a Lupo GTi and a mk5 GTi I’d go for the mk5 unless size is the deciding factor.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Happy to show my very silly workings  Well the fail list was pretty ugly (see below) welding and bodywork was required elsewhere too and I knew the car would have to look decent to be able to sell it for stronger money as most shonky ones don't fetch much at all. MOT failures and breaker cars ...

Be curious to hear a broad breakdown of the repairs done, having done similar evonomics to justify the continuing use of the Puma - although I think your math might be more sensible than mine was  Happy to show my very silly workings  Well the fail list was pretty ugly (see below) welding...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Anyone want a Cayenne 955 / 957 boot liner ? Mine came with one but I don’t need it so it’s now on eBay. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/293984742452 How much do you want? Have you read the description ?? 😂 But seriously - if you're going to collect in person or sort out your own postage, put in a bid. I ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

You want a magic one like Nic's that does 21mpg! The one he bought suspiciously cheap expecting an easy profit then found it had loads of problems and once he’d fixed them he was way into the red and now has to pretend he really likes it and it’s a keeper ? Or a different one ? You wanted to ...

Am I?

If I was that bothered about it I wouldn’t have shared what I’ve had done to it or the cost  GTS I’d get but the plain S probably makes less sense than the V6 TDi.

And how much have you spent since ???

There's no such thing as a cheap Cayenne ;)
I stopped counting. But imagine spending that and only have a S.

Re: Today’s want

If it *is* the timing chain it looks like it’s about £1k of parts plus the same again in labour. For a car that age/mileage it’s likely to be on the cards whether it’s been declared or not. Rich - or buy one at twice the price and still have the same list of jobs to do ? I’m going to email them... ...

Re: New car/van?

Depends how many seats you want in it I guess, I’ll measure the interior length when I get a minute. I waited and looked for a while before getting this, it was originally for sale for £4700 (I think) then it dropped down to £3600 after 3-4 weeks and I eventually paid £3k for it. It’s quite low spe...

My viano is terrible on fuel, granted it needs a thermostat so is probably still on the warm up cycle but it averages 22mpg.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Probably. At least if a turbo goes you can upgrade it so it’s money well spent. My maintenance is extreme because I really like how this goes and I weigh it up with my next replacement for this will be another 4x4 which is at least as quick, newer X5M/Cayenne Turbo or Biturbo ML’s are £25k plus. E63...

Good job you're loaded, Nic! Does rather put me off anything at the luxury end of the market. Not sure about loaded  I’ve generally done well out of cars for a long time, £250 Audi A3 1.8T Sport was flipped in to the Cayenne over 2 years, everything else ‘nice’ that I’ve had has cost very litt...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Some of the work is in preparation for tuning it, could have done just the bushes but I didn’t want the harshness of poly bushes and then if you add labour on to removing and pressing bushes in followed by new ball joints then there won’t be much difference. Depends how fresh you want it to feel and...
